OK so I'm looking at buying this 95 talon tsi awd buy my house, it had over 100,000 miles on it, but he had the motor rebuilt had 2k on it.

and my question is, can you trust a rebuilt motor? is it gonna be reliable to build on? I'm not looking to make a crazy race car, just something mild. Whats a rebuild usually consist of, i never really knew what they put into a rebuilt motor so if you can tell me that then that would be awesome. cause I'm thinking that there are still parts that have over 100k on them in the motor right? plus the trans will still have 100k on it, how good is that. it also said that is has a TD05H turbo on it. isn't that a 16g? I'm not sure.

also he had it listed at almost 6000 then i checked it last night and its down to 3000 seems kinda weird, just let me know what you guys all think cause i know you guys know more then i do.

thanks

it was at 6000 last week and now all of a sudden its down to 3000 so i dont know, im going to look at it this friday either way i was just wondering what everyone thinks. thanks for the reply though.

Im currently looking at one (95 tsi/awd) for 3.9k at 100k w/o the rebuilt motor.. Still seems like a great deal. :dsm:

nobody probably wants it because "rebuilt" things usualy scare buyers away. ask if he has the reciepts for the rebuild, or if he did it himself....i dont know what you could ask him. its hard to say without knowing the history of the car. good luck though.

Yea... if you did it yourself. Also theres probably a reason his motor is rebuilt. He probably abused the heck out of his car. You'll be better off finding a stock one. But if you plan on doing a 6 bolt swap I dont think itll matter, just make sure everything else is in good condition.

My personal experience... I had my motor rebuilt by a "reputable" shop here in Utah. Well, less than 5k miles later, I'm already having problems. I should have just bought something from Slowboy or something. I dunno. Just my two cents.

Sounds like there is something you are not being told for it to take a $3000 dive in price.I would be carful.IMO anyway. :talon:
