This person on craiglist has this ad. I need a motor for my car and want the 6 bolt. I just want to know if having the 2g head will need any wiring changes to my 1g wiring harness/ecu and with having to replace the pistons and valves what would you say is a fair price for it? It's going to depend since there is no mileage listed. Thanks guys.

You will not need any wiring changes for the 2g head. I put a 2g head on my 1g a few weeks ago and only had to get rid of the plug that was on the 2g head where the CAS bolts up to.

I can't see the ad, but if the pistons and valves need replaced (it might have some cracked guides as well) I wouldn't probably pay much more than $350 for it (I'm a cheapskate anyways, but it does depend how badly you need it). Just start out low. The engine needs work plain and simple, you will be spending a decent amount of cash most likely to get it to where it needs to be.

ok thanks. I sent an email, I'll probably call this weekend if they don't email me back before work tonight. If anyone can't see the ad I'll paste it here, without the phone number and all that.

Here is the ad:

I have a whole car with alot of aftermarket parts that I am parting out. As of right now i have every part still.

I was driving on day and the ac belt went into the timing belt and bent the valves. Im just tired of working on the car. The vavles put a few dents in the pistons . The short block is still good also the head is. The pistons and valves will need to be replaced. The short block is a 6 bolt from a 1g motor. And the head is a 2g head with bigger holes for the arp rods.

Just email me or call with what you are intrested in.

He probably meant to say bigger holes for the ARP head studs, 2g heads have a slightly smaller head bolt/stud hole, I think it's 11mm and the 1g heads have a 12mm hole. But anyways the pistons may not actually need replaced, they may have just kissed. As long as there's not major damage (valve embedded into piston, hole in piston, etc...) they could be reusable if you're just going for a stock build.

yeah for now I'm just going stock. Want to get the car running and driveable. Once I get it running I'll be replacing things to tune it up. So you think $350ish still? Hopefully I'll luck out and the person doesn't know exactly what they are talking about and I can get a deal.

holy crap! nevermind. I just got talked to a guy with a 90 TSi AWD, 5spd. Runs and drives and everything. He is going to let me buy the engine, tranny, transfer case, axles, and rear diff for $500!!! (actually pretty much any mechanical part that I want) Plus a new ecu if I want it, which I'll probably take and sell mine since mine is from an auto. So when all is said and done I will have a completely running and driveable 1g TSi AWD for $900! And then selling my ecu and auto differential will lower that cost too.
