can you drive without power steering??

I am getting a new power steering pump put in next week, but until then I was wondering if I can disconnect the belt and drive around without power steering. Will it break any of the steering pieces?

i cant answer that, all i know is that IT SUCKS ASS, i crashed my first talon, had to drive a 89 s15 and it was horrible, now I have a 90 GS-T and i dont know i lived without it

you can drive it but its VERY HARD to turn
i had to drive my 90 thunderbird (dont dis it...has a 454 in it...) almost 40 miles WITHOUT power steering (being drunk didnt help much). FUN stuff

You wont break anything,Except maybe the tendons in your arm from to much strain

I've been drivin around without it for about a week since I got my gsx. I expected it to be worse but its really not that bad. You'll get used to it. I'm even using one hand now. But to answer your question yes you can disconnect it and nothing will break.

before i put it back on and sold my eclipse a few weeks ago, i went almost a year with no PS. it was only really anoying in parking lots. its crowded here in cali so it can get crazy. my arms always got a nice workout though, and its amazing how much more you feel the road when the PS is gone...

yes you can, my friend has been doign it for liek 3 monthes on his GSX, needless to say, his forearms are now monstorous!:laugh:

you can , just dont do i for to long. you can cause damage to the power rack with out lubrication running thru it.

Power steering fluid is hydraulic fluid and is not used to lubricate moving parts. Right??

No, it's a lubricant as well. Along with a seal lubricant and conditioner.

so dont you jsut loop the power steerin line so it stays lubricated? im trying to figure this our right now, but i got rid of everything except the rack itself. i think i need some special fitting to loop it that 2 inches.
