I was quite surprised when I couldn't find any good thread about this.
I was wondering, is it possible to change the gear ratio's on a 2G FWD?
The reason I'm asking this is because I have had other cars which made more speed at less rpm and I liked this a LOT.
I care most for 1st and 2nd and 5th gear. 1st and 2nd for acceleration, now I really have the feeling I'm making a lot of rpm but not gaining any real speed. And 5th gear for highway cruising/ fuel saving. I'm now driving ~3500rpm at (legal) highway speed and I would love to see this go down somewhere to ~3000. I allready took a larger size tires but this didn't make a noticable change.
I know it's not a smart idea to change just a few gears because they will be too close or too far from each other, so then a change to all gears.
At the moment I have almost 300hp and I can hit the rev limiter in 5th. I will go over 300hp for sure in a short period of time with some extra incoming mods, so that's not the problem at all.
So can you guys give any information about this? Aftermarket products, trannies (or parts) from other cars, or anything else? Or maybe reasons why this can't be done (since I haven't seen it done before yet)
Thanks!
