Hello, I require assistance with two queries. Firstly, what direction should the opening for the brass fitting face, towards the turbo or the intake, for my catch can setup? Secondly, considering I have fresh air entering through the bottom into the air filter, is it preferable to seal the box or allow the air to escape through the hood? I am inclined towards having a grill on top of the hood. Thank you.

Agree. If the opening faces the incoming air stream, the fitting will actually create a block preventing air flow - much like putting your cupped hand into a stream of moving water with your palm facing upstream... you create a dead zone where your palm is as the water flows into your palm and stops.

What you want is for the opening to face the turbo so the vacuum created by the turbo and the air rushing past creates the negative pressure @Capt Obvious is talking about, thereby drawing air from the catch can. Same principle behind X-pipes in an exhaust system.
