Can i reuse the Headstuds?

I heard from a feew people that alot of cars headstuds you cant reuse bc it has been torqued is this true? Do i need a new set also i have a 2g head going on 1g block the 2g has ARP headstuds i cant use them right?

Since your there I would get ARP's, If you have a 6 bolt i hope you did your searching because that head wont just slap right on.

i know you cant reuse the stock head studs. but ive been told you can reuse arp head studs. i even bought a used set.

nope cant used them 6 blot studs are different and so is a 1g and 2g head.if u have stock studs u can reuse them but your running a hight risk of a blown headgasket.get 6 bolt arps 80 bucks and your set

i heard alot of things about 1g and 2g heads, ive been tol i need to drill the holes out to fit a 1g block, then ive read that it doesnt have to and theres alot of people that dont. any thoughts

do you have a 6 bolt or 7 bolt? if you have the 7 bolt then you wont need to do any drilling

Actually, the 1g 6 bolt head bolts can be reused. None of the 7bolts are reusable.

Actually, the 1g 6 bolt head bolts can be reused. None of the 7bolts are reusable.

guys this per the mitsu service manual... 6-bolt head studs can be reused as long as they are within spec for stretch, 7-bolt head studs are i believe an 11mm smaller than the 12mm 6-bolt head studs and CANNOT be reused. I have stock 110,000 mile 6-bolt head studs that have been reused with a MLS headgasket and i can get away with 32Psi of boost

the 2g head bolts/studs are 11mm and will not fit in the 6 bolt 1g block that is 12mm

the head bolt holes need to be reamed to .500 in the 2g head to fit the 1g block and allow for proper oil flow into the head.....
