alright so i spun a rod bearing on my six bolt cause i thought i could tune myself (i know dumb) but anyway i purchased a really badass motor
G4cs 2.4l
-Manley I beam rods
-Weisco Pistons
-fresh rebuilt head
-new water pump
now my question is can i take off my oil pump on my old motor it only has 8k miles and my external oil cooler and put them on this motor? i will also be reusing my big 16g while i break in the motor. would it be ok for me to reuse these parts after i give them a nice cleaning.
and yes this time around road race will be tuning my car so it doesnt happen again

Don't feel bad. I screwed up too, using an outdated tuning system which was supposed to tell me when I was knocking. I never knew what knock sounded like and the shitty part was I didn't realize it until a week after tuning. Luckily I set my clearances loose so I only have minimal piston to cylinder scuffing. Got lucky but I did go from 4% to 15% on my leakdown results :(

Hint: If you can feel timing being massively pulled during a WOT 3rd pull, you're knocking :)

I think you should try tuning again, don't give up now... even though RRE is reputable good bunch of people, I try to do everything myself. I've learned many trades, I reccommend learning everything you can! :)

By the way hold onto that crank, it's hard to find and sought over for a 2.3L stroker build (I have the same setup) Good luck.

The oil pump with 8k miles on it, what is the story behind it? Has been on an engine that suffered through a spun bearing or other metal contamination in the oiling system?

Make sure you pull the cams, HLA's and oil galley plugs from the head and clean them.

I cant say for sure but i think a machinist can tell if it needs to be replaced. As Bog said, how much metal you think got circulated? Can cause a ton of problems if theres enough.
Ive got 4500 on my oil pump/water pump and i def plan on reusing it. And i have no oil contamination at all. But to each his own. Some people replace oil and water pumps after 300 miles if there are problems and it has to be rebuilt.

Story is I have a stock 6bolt in my car I put a new front case, water pump, 3G lifters, and all new timing components. I tried tuning on a black box ecu because I had put the entire car together myself from a shell and I thought why not try and tune. Well long story short I spun a rod bearing. Only drove the car 8k miles
-yesterday a local had a badass freshly built 2.4l g4cs Hyundai motor for 800 so I picked it up. It needs a front case cams lifters OFH and thermostat housing. I want to reuse my timing components and front case since they are practically brand new so are my lifters. I know there are metal bits that went through my oil system but not sure if I can still reuse that parts because of this

You will not know untill you pull the front case you have and crack it apart and inspect for damage.

Excessive wear, gouges, metal transfer ect...

I wouldn't reuse the oil cooler, that's why they make the oil cooler delete kits for Evos. A lot of people spun bearings or had other damage then they would ruin there new engines because there would still be metal in the oil cooler even after trying to clean it out. Buschur and STM and others started selling the delete kits instead of putting back on the old oil coolers.

ill post up pictures as soon as i remove the old parts was going to do it today but got called into work
