Can I just jb weld it??

I have a badly misshapen ic outlet going to my uicp. No matter what i do i can not stop air from leaking past the clamp, i even tightened a t-bolt clamp so much that the bolt snapped on it WTF. Now i am still on the stock sidemount and what i want to do is put an extension on the ic outlet, maybe like 2 inches just so i can tighten the clamp on a nicely rounded pipe.

My question is can i use jb weld to attatch the metal extention on my outlet? If not what you be a good way of dealing with this? Thanks

I'm not a big fan of JBweld for a permanent fix. I would honestly shell out the few extra bucks and have it actually welded on.

well i will be buying a fmic in the next 6 months, would jb weld hold 16 psi for 6 months (14b)? I am in the middle of doing some other repaires and any buck i can save is an extra buck i throw in the shit my dsm broke again fund .

I just need a quick fix for now.

Ok, if that is the case. What I would do is to go with the temp fix-but turn the boost down until the permanent fix came. It's quite possible that JB weld could hold it, but with normal car vibration and the whole nine yards, I'd play it safe. I've blown off a ic pipe before, definitely not on my'fun things to make happen' list.

would you maybe have any other suggestions for fixing the leak other than using jb weld and putting an extention on? How about putting a bit of rtv around the outside of the ic outlet so it kinda fills in the imperfections and then tightening the clamp? I am defenently open to suggestions for a temp fix that can hold 15-16 psi

Heh, I know how my prior luck has been with temp fixes. Let me ask. the part that is misshapen, is it on the smic itself? I know you said on the outlet going to the uicp, but I just want clarity on exactly where this damage is. When you get this fmic, are you getting new uic pipes as well?

yes the outlet on the ic is all messed up. it has dents from clamps and its kinda oval. I have tried to shape the outlet into a circle again but that didn't get me anywhere.

And yes i will be changing the uic and lic pipes when i get a fmic.

Ok, then I would either:
1) get a used smic. I've seen people here get them for 50 bucks.
2) take the car into a actual weld shop, and have them shape and weld what you need so this issue won't come up again.

Either option is fairly inexpensive. Option two more than likely would have the faster turnaround time.

Ya i caught that. I think im going to try the jb weld because i dont really want to spend 50 bucks if i dont need to. I will pick up a front mount within 6 months but it could be as soon as 2 so i think the jb should be fine. I remember reading that jb weld was very strong and if you jb weld something dont count on getting it apart. but i guess ill find out

Be honest with you man i'd just rtv it. Use a bunch of blue goo to seal all the imperfections in the pipe. I just used blue goo to fix my hammer hahah the wood cracked so i bluegooed it and used clamps to hold it while it dried so i could hold off till payday. I'd use alot of it inside the hose and in between the hose and the outlet pipe then on the outside where they join. It kinda seems like you've made up your mind but...theres my .02.
