Can I connect PIAA FOGS to factory switch?

Hey all,

I have a 97 TSI AWD, and the factory fogs are missing. The fog switch and and light harnesses are all still there. I have a nice set of used, PIAA fog lights that I removed from another vehicle. I would like to hook those up to the factory foglight wiring, and use the factory fog switch. Does anyone know if that will work?

What I would like to do is cut the factory harnesses off and attach the PIAA harnesses to the factory wiring. Then the PIAA harness would simply plug into the PIAA foglights, keeping a clean, factory type install. There are just two wires for each foglight, a positive and a negative. Looks pretty straigth forward, so can anyone confirm that this will work? Any suggestions?

Thanks! :thumb:

II'd only say to not screw up the factory wiring, just add connectors that'll adapt to the PIAAs. Otherwise, yes, you should be just fine with them.

I did it, and it worked out great! The foglights I have are PIAA 1451 Fogs, and they are BRIGHT! It is nice to be able to have it all hooked up through the factory switches, too. I appreciate it guys! I would link a pic, but I am having trouble uploading pics to my gallery. I think they are too big.

I got a set of THESE Piaa fog lights and I also wanna hook them to the factory wiring. I know it will work, but will it be bad not using the relay like in the wiring kit they come with? I have the factory fog switch and all that and I know all that works. I just dont wanna melt the wiring.
