I have a 95 GST w/ Greddy IC Piping, K&N FIPK, and a Greddy BOV. Thats it, and this punk in a Teg GSR keeps fukin with me, but i never give him the time of day.... and i wanted to know if i can smoke him? he has Intake, Exhaust, and a MSD Ignition....... Thats all i've seen on his car...... other than that, it looks pretty stock....... i dont have a Boost controller so i wont be turning up the boost. I actually have no clue what its at cause i dont have a boost gauge either, i just got into DSM's and i'm still learning...... i have been a Honda guy for 3 years untill i rode in my friends 12 second Talon........ so, what do you guys think?

yep. My GSR was super reliable. I put on about 5-6K miles on it within 2.5 months. Not a single thing needed really. And i drove it hard too.

Good commuter cars.

I believe they have some pretty tiny stock injectors though, maybe thats why it was mentioned they have a pretty crappy stock fuel system?

Don't get me wrong I think they are great cars. However when you start to boost them, the only major problems you will run into is the fuel system like mentioned above, they ar hella small. They have something like 250cc's or 350cc's which are maxed out very fast. Especialy with the larger turbos.

Alright i know this shit died out but i wanna say something. My best friend has a 2000 Gsr with intake. Me i'm running MBC, intake, IC piping and psi set to 12 on a fwd talon. I pull on him and he cant catch me so i think u should be able to get him. Our first time ever running or cars and launching i ran 15.4 he ran a 15.6. The other nite on the highway we were both doing 80 and he dropped to 4th and i left mine in 5th and i just toasted his ass.. the drop did nothing.. so i think u should beat him..

dont boost any d or b series motors, unless you only have about 10k miles on it or you have it rebuit. The whole reason I didnt boost my civic is because of all the stories and times Ive seen a turbo honda blow up. I had all the money and then some to do this past nov(2002) and I decided to get a dsm cause of reliability issues with turbocharging my honda. For your info my civic sohc was running 15.5s and turbod it would easily be in the 13s.
Andrew

i know my hondas as well/better than dsms, and they dont have turbo reliability problems.. d series can handle up to 10 psi(reliably) on stock block with the right fuel control, making over 200 whp on a d16z6 SOHC cam is pretty impressive.. b series is even more capable..

i would much rather have an engine turboed from the factory, and awd :) though..

I saw a guy with a nice new engine on 4psi I think it was a b16 I believe, and it blew up before they got off the lift. Its how ever you take care of the car. But I still would rather have it turbocharged from the factory as you said, because I didnt have the money for a engine rebuild so I scrapped the honda.
Andrew

If only I had like 2k beans more Id be sporting a ls teg motor with that garrte t28 set for my civic. Oh well I believe I came out bettr this way.

i raced a 98 integra ls with a 70 shot he launched kinda bad(i got him by four cars) but he still only got two of them back, he was pissin and moanin about a rematch so i offered it to him and he just said we would some other time

btw i has a stock turbo clutch and exhaust when this happened

That's Easy!

AWD > FWD :D

But seriously, those little 'Teg GSR's are quick and fun, BUT, like has been said, wierd to drag. Unless you're up around 7-9k rpm, you're losing ;) The DSM on the other hand is much more predictable in a race. You can't launch anything like an awd car. :thumb:

sorry to steat the thread but how would a stock 91 2.0L eclipse do against a stock vtec honda accord i believe a 96 or so.

I think that depends on two things:
1. When you say 2.0L is that turbo or none turbo?
2. Is the accord a v6 v-tec?

If you are turbo and he is not v6, then yes you can take it
If you are not turbo and he is v6, He would pull on you hard, and there is a good chance you will lose
If you are turbo and he is v6, then I would say a pretty even match, but you will most likely win.

n/t 2.0L. i know that a turbo 2.0L would take it. but its not a v6 vtec. its a 4banger. i was just curious cause i just barely got a 2.0L nt eclipse and theres a guy with a honda accord that thinks hes big shit so i need to show him who owns. just wanted to know if i should do a little modding before i race him or not.

the only thing i raced and lost too was my own altima

is that one of the NEW 3.5 altimas??? because all the altimas before that came with a natrually aspirated 2.4liter DOHC motor. the MAXIMAS came with a 3.0 v-6 DOHC so unless its a 3.5 altima, (most are just the 2.5) or you mistook it for a maxima then it wasnt a 6. but hey im not really into the standard nissan cars, but ive raced a few, and once they get moving they are hard to catch up to if your in a virtually stock car

You should be able to beat him. If you want to be really sure you can remove your BCS or get a cheap BC ~12 on ebay (they work fine). But you do really need to get a Boost guage first. :)

2.0 nt vs 4 cyl accord hmm that would be close..

the newer altimas are quite quick.. 0-60 in the mid 6 second range..

First off, I WON, wow, i got him off the line and had about 2 or 3 car lengths and it stayed that way untill i got off the gas and he blew by me and claimed he won, so we raced again and he got a better launch then me, but we were still kinda next to each other but i still got him, but by half a car length or so.....

What is a BCS???

Boost control soilnoid (sp). I think there is a link in the free mods section or VFAQ on how to remove it. It limits boost to 15psi IIRC.

ok how about if i got manual and the 4 cyl vtec accord is auto? and yes im a good driver with manual. my cousin showed me how to drive. and i know how to launch a fwd without burning out too much so i have no problems. i swear i always beat people here in this town with my 1.8L cause i can launch so much better than these people here. rookies. im just making sure if i should mod the 2.0L eclipse before i race the accord so i wont embarrass my self though.

you should win i would put my money on you..

mods wont do much, intake maybe a few hp, same with exhaust

thats what i was planning on doing. getting cai, full exhaust, and headers. if i do get exhaust would 2 in. exhaust do good for a nt dsm?? what size would be best for a nt dsm by the way???

2.25" if you plan to stay NA

if you really want some power i would look into nitrous or maybe a turbo kit?

good luck! race that dude and whoop em!

ok. once i get my car running the first thing im going to do is go to a muffler shop and get them to make a custom headers back exhaust 2.25". i dont think it should be too expensive. my cousin got his done for about $200 more or less. i do plan on staying na because im saving up money for an 1G awd dsm. :thumb: ill use the 2.0 for my daily beater and still be able to beat a good amount of hondas and acuras and use it for whenever the awd is in the shop or broke down. man i love 1G's. are there any other mods i can do to the 2.0 without turboing or spraying??

cams, dont know what brands make em for your car.. but nitrous would cost about the same once your done and you wouldnt get but 10 whp with cams probably.. and nitrous.. well you could spray 50 completely safe, and up to 75 easily(with some fuel work).. around 500 bucks for a minimal setup..
