Can I register this car, with the title like this?

Bought a 95 tsi awd, out of state..had title and car shipped here. In the "lien holder" section of the title it says "chrysler Financial Corp" since its the original title, and the car had a loan from the dealer when bought new.

so my question is, can I register this car w/o a lien release papers? Doesnt the Secretary of state office do all of that for you and make sure its all clear when issuing you a new title? Or do you need those papers? Thanks

id think ya need those papers.
as far as SOS knows.. chrysler still owns the car.

Check with your DMV or whatever your state calls it. You can't come up with a situation they haven't already dealt with.

Helpful hint: find the smallest town within 40 miles that has an office, and go there. You'll drive there, get done and halfway back before you'd get to the window in a city's office.
