Can a worn out asd relay cause long crank before start?

So I’m having problems with a long crank before start and think it could be something to do with the asd relay slowly wearing out every time I barely touch it, it causes the engine to feel as if it’s finna stall could this lead to a long crank before start or not enough power to the ignition in general?

You have a good battery and alternator? Which specific relay are you asking about? Generally a relay either works or doesnt work. If your thinking the relay is bad, take it out and swap it for another one in the fusebox just for testing. You have a check engine light?

Yeah well “did” i got the cel today then messed with the asd relay for 30 seconds and cel was gone

Would you suggest the BPR7ES? I’m only currently on 13psi and stock internals.

Oh. When I had my 420a, I also had a problem that would cause a no start. I had to wiggle the relay then try to start and repeat LOL. I was 16 and had no mechanical skill LOL. If you can use a another relay to test then try that. Do the wires and connection look ok? Corroded? Try and test with a multimeter if you can. But probably just replace it. I didnt realize you were non-turbo. That's why I was confused LOL.

If you suspect an intermittent ASD relay, try temporarily bypassing it by removing the relay and jumpering the connector's larger red-black wire (pin 8) to the connector's larger black-red wire (pin 2). This does what the relay does when it is activated. Do this only for testing - don't leave it this way as it will power all the engine stuff all the time.

Yeah I’m 16 and don’t know much but no the wire looks in good condition guessing the relay is just going bad and I looked up the asd relay for a 420a and it came up as 61$ but the back up light relay fits into the asd relay slot and aren’t they literally the exact same relay ? Like why would the asd be 40$ more then a back up light relay or fuel pump relay ?

I'm unsure. I'm not a 420a guy. However the relays should show the amperage? If the wires to the other relay are the same thickness and pinout then it should work for a test.

I hope someone more knowledgeable with electrical and 420a can help. Sorry I cant be more helpful here.

No DSM has a backup light relay so you must be looking at something else. The ASD relay connector in my circuit diagrams shows 9 pins although the relay itself shows 4 pins.
Well on here it says there is and I did replace the relay which did cause my back up lights to actually come on…

there were all kinds of crazy variations on the 95. some things have like 5 or 6 different part numbers. its weird that it would have a relay cause on 98% of them, the back up light switch has power to one side when the ignition is on, when the switch is activated, power flows thru the back up light to ground. There is no need for a relay, the current draw isn't enough to need one.

if i remember correctly, the gray plug is for the ASD and the black plug is for the fuel pump. AT relay would be the one with a white plug.
whether you have 2 or 3 or 4 relays they are the same
