Hey Dsmtuners,
this is my first post and i just recently tried to replace the head gasket. I am now reinstalling everything and i noticed that my camshaft and rod doesn't rotate, i am trying to align the my lines. Any suggestions?

also does any one have a brief diagram or pictures that they are willing to take to help me put my whole engine back together. I have a lot of hoses and misc parts that i have no clue where it came from. LOL

well, thank you

What do you mean your camshft dosent spin?

By hand? or when you put a wrench on it?

Are your cam caps in the proper place, facing the proper direction?

yah, i have the locks facing the arrows. it has the numbers 1,2,3,4 L,R on the caps, i know i did that right, but by hand it wont move at all. it doesnt have the timing belt installed, so i dont understand why spinning it is such a huge issue. tomorrow, ill see if a wrench makes a move, but i can only imagine, if its difficult to spin, wouldnt it be a problem all in oneself? i dont want to install everything then all of a sudden, my rods is forcefully destroyed when i start it.

Doubfull you can spin the cams by hand with the followers installed.

You have to fight the cam over the springs.

Preset the cams time on TDC of #1, so when the head is installed on the block, you will not have to move the cams much to get them in time. This will lessen the chance of bending the valves.

i already put it to tdc before i even took the engine out... hmm.. maybe i should put some oil in it? would that help? lets say if it has oil and doesnt work? where do i go from there

When you installed the cams, you did not put some oil on the cam tower in the head or the cam caps?

Yes pull that back apart and oil it.

When the cams are out of the head.

Go and check your crank timing mark and make sure they are lined up.

When you go to install the cams, line up the cam gear to cam gear marks then place them in the headand install the cam caps.

okay okay, thanks. I'll come back tomorrow and report everything else.

okay, both cams now spin, but when i put the timing belt on, i believe the timing is off, because one stops and the other keeps moving and the force tries to unbolt the cam instead....

how do i time it back? i mustve made a mistake with tdc from the beginning because when i aligned my marks when putting back my timing belt, everything is off..
