I am looking to change the cams and cam gears in my car. I have a 96 5-speed talon turbo. Pushing 20-25 lbs of boost. Which cams and cam gears would benefit me the most?

That's a pretty crazy idle for 272's, I agree that something isn't right there. You might want to check your cam timing. It seems like an exhaust leak that causes the wideband to read lean at idle is going to cause the wideband to read lean at cruising speeds as well. Have you done a boost leak test lately?

Read above, sounds a lot crazier than it actually is, Dj, guy who owns ET motorsports can attest to that, and Marti from VIP Garage can attest to it too. I wish it sounded that mean all the time, I guess the angle of the camera. It does lope tho, but those saying it was dead stock are dead wrong unless your at at least 900 rpms. I am sure it has exhaust leaks, but trust me, my airflow is DEAD on, soo im not really worried about it considering 2 experienced DSM shop owners have heard/seen/ridden/driven the car and said it sounds like a normal 272/272 combo.

Normal 272/272 cams don't sound that lopey. Is my car and so many others dead wrong? I guess I can idle tune better than those shops :p .

:p A friend of mine with HKS 272's in a 2.0 definitely don't lope that bad. He's pretty much fully built and it only misses once or twice every 3-4 seconds. Kind of like how a DSMLink'd car has the wrong deadtime compensation. It definitely wasn't as lopey as in that video OMG

They didnt idle tune, they listened to it. I dont realy see how you can idle tune better when the o2 cycling is perfect and my fuel trims are within 1% cycling. But I guess you guys would know how it sounds much better than I do by just watching a video instead of actually being there.

Edit: I am venting as you are going off a point and shoot camera video when plenty have seen it in person and say it idles just like a regular dsm with cams.

Buddy, it's ok. We're just jerking your chain. Ours really do idle better. No offense meant. Yours pulls hard and acts like 272s where it counts, right? That's all us DSMers truely care about :) . Keep rollin', bud.

A side: I trapped you unintentionally. My car does not run right when my o2 volts cycle at idle. It only runs right when my long term low fuel trim sits at around 140 (1g). My oem o2 sensor "loads up" at idle and shows lean no matter what deadtime or flow is told to my dsmlink powered ecu. Having your fuel trims in line tells you that your ecu thinks everything is ok. Whether or not things really are. It's no big deal though because, you still have a car that idles and you're not complaining about fumes or gas mileage. We're all of the same stock. We're all bretherin of the turbo revolution :thumb: .

Im about to have bc 272s installed in a couple weeks so ill post a video of my results...
I cant wait ! My current 300whp has begun to bore me for the past couple months LOL. Its going to sound crazy with my car because I have a electric exhaust cut out right at the end of my 3inch downpipe so its basically open down pipe when my cut out is open...
( Sounds like stock when its closed, i kept the stock muffler on after the 2.5 catback for stealthness.)
I hear the fp2 cams and the comp 101200s perform better though but im doing this on a budget so oh well.
