Been following DSMtuners for quite some time. Got alot of useful information here. But here is a question I cannot find. Timing belt tensioner failed on my 92 eclipse gs. 2.0L no turbo. took the head and had it rebuild. HERE IS WHERE I FAILED. I did not label the hydraulic lifter location OR the rocker locations and now when I put everything back together i have about 13 valves thats in the open position, not fully seated when they should be. I would like to know if anyone has encountered this problem and resolved it without taking the head and all the componets back to the machine shop for them to fix. im honestly stumped right now...

You need to bleed down the HLAs (lifters)

Hope that the machine shop has the specs on the 4g head, and knew to set the tip height

By 4g head I'm assuming you mean the 4th generation. I have a 1g motor and head. As far as bleeding down the hydraulic lifters I'm not familiar with this. Is this something the machine shop does or what? I believe I found my problem. The rocker arms could be different or are they the same? I'm having a problem diagnosing the problem.

Okay nevermind I googled how to bleed hydraulic lifters. And that is definately the problem.... they are full of oil. Super cheap and easy fix for my problem. DSMtuners once again prevailed. Thanks for the help!!!! :):):)

4g as in 4g63. The rockers are the same dimensions from 90-99 regardless if they look a little different. Likely as bogus said the lifters are pumped up. They will eventually bleed them selves down from the spring pressure, or you can remove them and bleed them your self. A google search will help you bleed these lifters down.

Much thanks to bogus and bryan for helping me out and clearing up the 4g question. All I need is a small paper clip to fit in the hole at the top of the lifter, turn it upside down and press the lifter to bleed the oil out. Thanks once again to the guru's that volunteer their knowledge on this site for people like me.

Just want to say if you still have the 1g stock HLA's you are going to need something smaller then a paperclip. I ended up using a small sewing needle to push in the check valve, just be careful not to poke your self.
