Cam seals help half moon

Okay so i noticed that on my 2g gsx head that i took out there was a half moon seal and on the other cam there was a full moon seal however on the head that i am putting in i only got a half moon seal ... is the full moon seal required? does oil pass through there? i know this is a newbie question... but i am confused!

There should only be a single half moon cam seal opposite to the cam which is closest to the nose of the car. RTV the bottom and top of the half moon and put RTV at the corners of each of the cam lobes when sealing the valve cover.
