Cam gears removed from shafts. Timing?

I recently replaced my head gasket and took the opportunity to overhaul the head and replace the water pump and timing kit. when I removed the camshafts I also removed the cam gears. How do I go about setting the timing for the cam gears? Thx

There`s only one way the cam gears can go on the cams. But if you mean setting mechanical timing follow vfaq.

That's correct. On the camshafts there's a dowel pin and on the cam gears there's a hole for the dowel pin to fit into.

thx guys...the dowell pin is exactly what I needed to know. I set the timing 1 day b4 I went back to iraq. 80 days and I can continue my project. (the whole timing thing has been in the back of my mind since)

Glad we could help. You your a dsmer when all you can think about in iraq is the timing on your dsm.
