I've got a slight problem. I picked up my head from the machine shop and they left the CAS off. What's the easiest way to reinstall the sensor without messing with the timing? I read you can just take off the intake cam gear, but the head is still off, and I am worried about messing up the timing on that gear. Is this going to be the easiest way? Also how do I ensure that the gear goes back onto the cam at exactly the same position while its off the car?

Thanks,
Deuce

There is a dash/indentation on the CAS. The little part that spins and has 2 "pegs" coming off of it has an indent on one of the pegs. Line that peg up with the other indentation on the base of the sensor. That'll make sure isn't 180 degrees out. Bolt that onto the head and make it so the bolts are in the middle of the brackets. Then you are going to need a timing light to set the base timing (5 degrees). Also, if it's on your 95 and you haven't put in a 1g or 97-99 sensor, then disregard all this. The CAS on the 95 is inside the head. I haven't messed with one of those yet, so I can't help you there.

Edit: After rereading your post, it sounds like you still have the 95 sensor. In that case, just take the gears off and do it the right way. You have to set the timing when you put the head back on anyways. Timing isn't set when the head is off the car. The timing marks are all set up when the head is on the block.

Ok, I think I need to be a little clearer. I am going to be removing the gear and leaving the cam in, correct? And if so, how can I make sure the gear goes back in the exact sam location so my white timing marks still line up correctly?

The gear has a hole in the center that lines up with a nub on the camshaft. THe gear can only go onto the camshaft one way.

Thanks, that is what I wanted to know before I took it apart. The timing on my car was off when I got it and a real toolbox had the car, just trying to make sure I put it back together right.

Yeah, I know to put it at TDC, I was just worried about repositioning the cam gear on the cam.

CorrupTTalon- Thats a later 2G head, the 95's have the CAS behind the intake cam.
