Recently guys my 95 motor took a crap on me :notgood: and I have a butt load of money into my car already. Instead of selling it and starting over I have decided just to buy a new motor. Does anyone know of any good reputable vendors that build good strong motors. I am looking to achieve 300hp to the wheels with this motor, however much it is going to cost. As of right now money is not an issue. Any suggestions where I can find a good built motor. Please share your opinions and experiences. Thanks ahead of time :rocks:

ya Ive thought about them, havent really checked it throughly though. I have seen an add on here(dsmtuners) for a company that builds pretty bad a#$ motors but I havent seen the add lately. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yeah man that six bolt engine and tranny makes an exellent platform out of a '95 for about $3,000 and might be able to use some of your current bolt ons.

Just use a full stock 6 bolt, swap that in, and maybe a set of 264's and some cam gears. A stock motor is fully capable of 300whp, and you rebuild the motor... even better.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do.

So, I was just wondering, why is the 1G motor better? is it just to avoid crank walk? doesnt it have less hp?

It's basically the same except it's better because of stronger rods and is a 6 bolt...but the 95+ has better pistons. That's about it!

You can put '95 pistons on 1G big rods (with some modifications) in a 6-bolt motor. You get the 2g 8.5 c/r.

Its also possible to re-use your 2G head on a 6-bolt bottom end.

Dont forget to upgrade your studs & bearings if building the motor. Might want to remove the balance shafts (less point point of failure), although you will get a bit more vibration.

Also, 2G lifters if you dont want to deal with lifter tick...

get a stock 6-bolt. re-build it and throw on a EvoIII 16g (with the CORRECT supporting mods) and you'll very very easily have more than 300hp. :thumb:

Ok I see. What makes the 95 have better pistons? is it because they are smaller?
Also what makes the later Evo engines so much better if they are also 4G63s? sorry for the 21 questions, I'm just a noob trying to learn.

It's my understanding that the later Evo engines simply have different Cam Shafts, and other internals, and a bigger turbo. Also, isn't the computer is tweaked a bit differently?

If this is true, then A) I'm uberjelous of your current cash flow situation, and B) http://www.buschurracing.com. Note, some assembly required ;) :thumb:

I see, so does that mean that a 2nd gen ecplispe has the same potential as like an Evo VIII? Or wouldn't it be possible to swap an Evo engine into a second gen Eclipse? I know that the motors are rotated 180 degrees but what if the you take the transmision as well? Thanks for all your info guys.

Buddy, I am pretty sure FFWD Connection is the company you are referring to here. They are a DSM tuner sponsor, and they were featured on the made web page of DSM tuners last week sometime. Here is there link:

Check them out, as I am sure they can build you a pretty stout powerplant to satisfy your power needs. :thumb:

It is possible to do it. I live in Des Moines, Iowa. Its the middle of nowhere for those of you who don't know where it is. There is a kid in town who has done it. The motor fits, you have to do some adjusting of the engine bay(couldnt tell ya why) and you can actually rotate it. But, why would you want to screw with the wiring and stuff. The evo's wiring is a lot different than our 2nd gen dsms. Best thing to do - call slowboy racing, order a 1st gen motor, keep your 2nd gen head, and put some good old fashioned bolt on power parts (16g turbo of whatever flavor you want, exhaust, intake and your other basic goodies) and you got a fun machine that isn't breaking down all the time and runs like a son of a bi***. And you have a leg up on us other 2nd gen people - you dont have to screw with crank walk :thumb:

Sounds good, thanks for the advice. I was just talking to this mechanic at work today and he told me there is a local tuning shop here in Calgary where they dropped an Evo engine in 2nd gen Talon. I'm trying to go check it out next week and I'll find how much of a pain in the ass it was. Thanks for all your info guys.

ok guys thanks for the reply's......well some people helped WTF I suppose the best thing to do is just buy a used 6 bolt and build the $#*t out of it. Hope I get a good 6 bolt!!! Any idea on where to get one? Or my guess is just as good as yours. Thanks

Hell, I'd recommend getting on AutoTrader or looking around and seeing how cheap you can buy a used 1gen Eclipse/Talon and ripping the engine out of that (unless you wanted to use it). I'm buying a 1990 Talon Tsi AWD sometime this week for $500 with just a blown head gasket. I know that'd be a bi*** ripping it out, but I would much rather do that then spend over $4,000 on an engine. But if you're wanting really low mileage or a brand new engine, yeah... I'd check out Slowboy Racing. They always have good deals. Good luck.

Buschur racing hands down for a motor.
When I ordered mine they were friendly and went out of their way to help me select the right combo for my goals. Kept me updated every step of the way on the progress of my motor

Hey Old Mop,

Did Buschur actuall assemble everything and ship in in one crate (ala the GM Crate motors) or did you have to get some bloody knuckles on the engine too?

thanks for all the replys guys.........
Im still not sure where to go. I live in MI and it would be more convient for me to take my car to buschur and tell them to go to town. But some of the motors on ffwd website look killer. Anyone have any experiences with either companys? Might be a silly question but does buschur sell longblocks? thanks again

I already have a 6 bolt in my 2nd gen but now I am a little more interested in the top end. Has anyone dropped the evo 6spd tranny in yet? and I would guess with the evo motor and yes I know custom fab.
