The other night on a ride home from my buddies house my headgasket went to the birds and now I am sitting here debating what to do and I have pretty much decided that I am going to put another 7 bolt into my car. I know the crankwalk stories and all that, but I am willing to try another 7 bolt. My current engine has not been very reliable and I have been to hell and back with it lately. Does anyone know who sells 7 bolts? I found one in the classifieds for about 600 plus another 200 shipping which doesn't sound too bad, but I would rather buy from a company. Sorry for the length, but does anyone know the answer to my question?

Where to buy a 7 bolt?

No 6 bolt swap bashing either please, I have done my research.

Thanks in advance.

I dont' understand why you would need to swap a new motor in after a headgasket popped unless you had some other problem with it. If it is just the gasket have that fixed.

Many of the common DSM vendors (SBR, Buschur, RRE) can supply you with a rebuilt motor in various stages or you could just buy a block and have it built.

I say go for it. If your engine is actually f*cked, than i say go for the 7 bolt. You didnt give much information in your post on exactly what occured that is making you go for a new 7 bolt?? For me, when my Bottom end started knocking and i knew i threw a rod bearing..i bought myself another 7 bolt. You just gotta look around, 7 bolts are very hard to find i will say because it took me nearly 3 months to find a decent one (out of a 99 GST 25k miles). Id say go search for junkyards and find one from there, if your still not secure about it, than id suggest rebuild your top or bottom end, whichever is corrupt. If not that, dude seriously go for a 6 Bolt swap, you can find a decent motor for around $1200-$1800 and have somebody u know help you do all the wiring. Its gonna be an effort but it should be worth it. If you want a remanufactured 7 bolt engine, you are looking to spend about $3500-$3800, and i know this from experience. So there are your options, the rest is up to you.

The reason for wanting a new engine is the fact that mine has just become untrustworthy. I have had this car for about a year now and it has not ran well continously for more than a couple of weeks. Sure, some of it was suspension problems, but for the most part, it's all the engine doing wierd things. It leaks oil like a no other and there is pretty much a new gasket everywhere me and my friend could think of the oil leaking. I don't want to worry about my car everytime I get in it anymore and especially since I am going to be racing it next spring. I know that a lot of people say 6 bolt, but I don't really want to. I have read everything about it, and I don't think crankwalk is that big of deal. I am just shopping around junkyards and such now. I found an engine in MI with 60k on it for about $500, but I need to get me a loan for an engine and a beater car so....

Any suggestions on where to buy are still open....

Thanks again.

Are there any signs of crankwalk on your motor? If not I might be willing to buy your block from you if you would be willing to ship it....

as i speak from experence you might wanna look into the six bolt one more time.. harder to find seven bolts... ive been though two seven bolts in an automatic.. so i finally just dumped the car and bought a 1g shell.. but good luck man!

I just bought a 7 bolt from Slowboyracing.com, i havent had the time to put it in but to have them build a 7 bolt you have to purchase at least there stageII block, just thought id mention that.
