so i got a call from my uncle last night asking if i wanted to buy a 91 eclipse. i called the owner to ask what model it was, he told me it was a 91 2.0 turbo and on the back said "gs" something. so to me if there is another letter is has to be a gsx. well the main concern is that the past few days have been really cold. Highs of 22 degrees and lows of 5 degrees F. The guy says theres some ice in the radiator. How can i tell if the block hasnt cracked, or do you guys think its still ok? i will be looking at it later today.

Pressure test it cold, then, if its still holding pressure warm it up to operating temp and pressure test it again. If it holds with minimal leakdown you should be good to go.

If you start the car and run it at operating temp for 10-15 minutes and its not leaking coolant it "should" be fine.

Cookmeup is right, if it says GS-Turbo on the bumper its fwd but of course when you get there I would just crawl under and look to see if it has a rear diff or not.

so i went to go look at..i didnt buy it, body is semi straight, interior is like a 5 out of 10, the guy didnt want to start it up, he said its been parked for 3 months, i took alook at the timing belt and it was new. so most likely it threw the old one, and we all know that will cause some bent valves. they guy tried aruging it wouldnt. anyhow the engine is completely stock, still had oem airbox. O.D. has 169k. And yeah its a GS turbo FWD..if anybody is looking for a cheap parts car pm me

oh yeah it had ice build up in the upper radiator hose.
