Lately I have been getting this burning smell after I hit boost in 1st through 3rd gear. It almost smells like my clutch but it doesnt seem to be sleeping. Any ideas what it may be? Also I recently replaced my tranny fluid with penzoil synchromesh. Should I switch it out for BG Synchroshift of Redline mt-90?

Did the smell only start after you changed the fluid? Try, when your cruising normally in like 3rd or 4th gear, to put it into 5th and try to boost and see if the clutch slips from the torque. Yours might just be starting to go but not enough to really see it move. How many miles on the disc?

my car only smokes out the exhaust after I boost. And no I never noticed the smell before I changed the trans fluid. My car did smoke some under boost before the tranny fluid was replaced. How would I know for sure that what I am smelling is oil or my clutch?

My car is doing this same thing, but only after i put in my larger injectors (680s). and i haven't gotten a good tune yet, so i just assumed it was from running rich and was going to see what happened once i got it tuned when dsmlink gets here.

Sounds like the turbo is eating oil. If you know your car smokes after boost, then it makes sense for it to be the turbo over the clutch.

does it smell like its burning oil or burning gas? if it was burnign gas youd be running rich which would mean you would notice your MPG sucks. if its not that then you must be burning oil...which isnt too good. what color is the smoke? could be bad seals

Anytime I had bad valve seals, they usually only smoked on take off and then cleaned right up. Have someone behind you and see if its blue smoke (oil) or black (fuel). I would say signs are pointing pretty good that your turbo seals are going. Pull off the intake and check for shaft play. Better to get it rebuilt before it pumps oil into your motor, and antifreeze too eventually.

Not necessarily, I thought the same thing about my car, it turned out to be one of my gaskets popped off. Fixed the gasket and it was fine. Check your gaskets, because my car did the same thing.

If it's oil, check your pcv system and crank breather line. If it's tranny fluid, you wouldn't see it out of the exhaust. Could be bad turbo seals, but i'm guessing it's pcv related/crank pressure related.

Unless your motor just sucks and is eating oil. Could be that too.

Turbos go bad. I had 2 blow on me. If it eats oil you will know, take off intake and check it, should be oily or atleast some shaft play. Rebuild kits are common, my friend just rebuild his with ebay no brand and so far he beats on it and no problemo.
