Ok my girlfriend just bought a 91 eclispes with the 1.8l engine. when they got it home they were reving the engine a little and then smelt burning coming from the inside of the car. Then the car died. now we cant get it started. it will turn over but the pump doesnt come on. i was able to jump the pump and it would run. Haynes manual said that i would be the little gold box that is sitting under the dash next to the ecu or the control circuirts. is this where i want to be looking? or is the problem the ecu? i have the gold box out and i am in the process of repacing it. if this doesnt work what next?

ok i figured out the problem. it was the ecu that burned up. made the whole car smell. so now we ordered a remanufatured ecu. there are more on ebay if any one is interested. they are $220 shipped

Ebay 90-94 ecus for 1.8l dsms

I picked up my 90 turbo ecu from a boneyard for $80 and remanufatured it myself (change caps). You shouldn't be paying 220 for it.

Mmm the old fish smell..

I'm glad to see you figured it out, initiative is always a good thing to be seen around here.

:thumb: to you.

oldman i know but the car is my girfriends and her mom is being a pain in my butt about it. also there are no dsms in any of the yards near me i have been calling around. but i will let everyone know how we make out when we get the ecu thanks

yaa, both me and my g/f's computer dicked up by the ECU's frying. but 220 is a bit high =/
