2G burning oil

When do you have oil burning from the exhaust?
If it is just when you start up the engine or when you take off from a stop, that could be a sign of valve stem seals.
If is is when you are getting into boost or going full boost it could be your turbo going bad.
And finally if it does it all the time, that is usually a sign that you have some bad piston rings and/or a bad turbo.
I would pull of the intake to the turbo and check for any shaft play at the turbo.
If that checks out ok I would do a compression check next.
Hopefully this can lead you in the right direction.:)

Did you leave your car sitting idling for an extended period of time?

I know mine if I let it sit for 5-10 minutes idling and then give it a rev or anything at all it'll blow a puff of smoke - then I'll get on it a bit and might blow another puff and it wont smoke again. I don't know the exact mechanics of whats going on but I figure something at idle is just right that the oil probably seats around the valves and seeps into the cylinders and burns off soon as the car's engine speed starts changing.

However if you're smoking all the time then it's most likey rings or something.

As mentioned can be valve seals if it's just when you start the car or start from a stop

How much oil are you burning anywhos since you didn't mentioning having to add oil, or how much oil you're consuming between the last oil change and this quote of 3500miles ..

If you're only going through a quart in this 3500 miles, then that's a pretty tight little motor that is running super good...

if u miss an oil change by 500 miles it's ok...500 miles is really nothing...most manufactures suggest 5,000 mile oil changes so your good on that aspect...but like GRAVEDIGGER and KadieTSi said if u idle for a while and it smokes or goes away as u drive then it's your valve stem seals...if always then it may be your piston rings. Thats usually the rule of thumb for most cars.

well i do let it sit and run for a bit in the morning. what triggered me was one of my brothers friends was behind me going into town and i got on it and he told my brother i was burning oil when i got on it.

Your best bet is to either completely pull the motor and have it rebuilt by a machine shop, or you could also take it to a shop and they can re-ring the pistons without removing the engine by accessing the rings from the bottom through the oil pan…

If you plan on keeping the car for awhile, pull it and rebuild, you will be much happier.

well the thing is i'm getting ready to go to college so money isn't flowuing in like i'd like. plus, i've never done an engine rebuild and there are no speed shops close to me. th closest would be indy or cincy, and my eclipse is my DD. :(

Have you pulled the intake off and checked for shaft play yet? Do that before jumping to conclusions.
