hi
any one runs this type of turbo on a 2.0 liter engine
i would like to know because i was thinking
instead off upgrading every time lets say from a 16G to a 20G and so on
is it wise too just get a big turbo and drive it first at lower psi untill you got the rest of the supporting mods to run it at full capacity?
it sure would save a lot off money on the turbo

does this make any sense:confused:

No it doesnt make sense. Supporting mods always should come first.

But about those turbos, I may find out...I'm a finalist for their free turbo giveaway contest and at the very least I get a 20% discount on any turbo they have. :D
 
I 'd say with what you have in your profile as far as mods you already can run that turbo at least half decently. And by that I mean you may be pretty slow for your turbo size but at least you should be relatively safe. Run low boost on pump and watch knock. You may retard your base timing a bit for additional safaty cusion. I don't see any point for him to get 20g or the like.

That is if you are planning on more mods in the near future. If you are planning to stay at this level for a year or more then I 'd wait and stay with what you have. And whatever you do please don't get that S364 in a mitsu bolt on housing. Pleeese.

thats what i ment instead of pushing the 16G to its limit and have to deal with all the other problems you ran into with high boost
how would the car perform if i put in a turbo that flows twice as much as the 16G but driving it at low psi say 10/12 psi and built from there on:confused:

and whats wrong with that turbo in a mits housing:confused:
seems you have some experience with this setup?

alltough i was planning to get the bulseye turbine housing
i have one on my 16G and i love it:D

FWIW:sosad: , I ran my 60-1 E-cover RS60T for several months at 10 psi... FP2Xs 8500 rpms, 1G head and intake mani, . . .

Everyone I knew was saying, 'what about compressor surge'. I'd say the same thing: at lower boost the turbo spins less and pushes less; if it spins less then it supplies less air; if it supplies less air then i can get away w/ lower boost. Theres a reason why compressor maps point diagonal instead of straight up. . .

Just find where you're at in the map w/ 10-12 psi. everything else is vanity. . .
 
The Mitsu TH is just to small for large frame turbos. If you want a large turbo that spools around 4000-4500 RPMS and starts to fall on it's face from large amounts of exhaust back pressue around 7500 then a Mitsu TH is for you. They just are not ment for large turbos.

Personally I prefer a T4 TH. But a .82 ARish T3 will flow more than almost all mitsu housings. Nice thing about them is it's bolt on. If budget is a concern then get a Mitsu and don't really worry to much about it. You can tune around it but you just won't have as much upper RPM power as you could.
 
Not neccesarily true. Total hotside flow is determined PRIMARILY by the turbine wheel (diameteter being most important variable). Then next is the housing area/radius ratio. . .

Example: my 85 t-bird TC comes stock w/ a t3 60 trim and a .63 a/r t3 stage1 turbine. Spool is great (18 psi by 2500rpms). Guys love to upgrade to the 50-trim. They prefer .48 a/r housings and run the t3 stage3 wheel. Flow is lots more, spool is lots longer.

The TD06H wheel which is best suited for the large mitsu turbos does GREAT w/ the 20G, 25G, etc. larger mitsubishi compressors long after 7K rpms. Also, The fp red (my 60-1 compressor and cover) is a beautiful marriage of a large compressor and a full mitsubishi turbine (wheel and housing). Excellent for long past 7K rpms

BTW, my RS60 bep turbine housing is .55 a/r. A mitsubishi 8cm^2 housing is .57 a/r.
