Well, for being able to log on a lap top...

You need: 1) A lap top with a DB9 Connector Port or you need a DB9 to USB cable, like Keyspan (one of few known working cables, others just don't read)

ALDL to Logger cable can be made using this site.

MMCD is a good\free Logging program (used for Palms)
There is also Technomotive Logger, and Tunerstein for logging on Laptops.

Search and you will find LOTS of info.

A DB9 is a 9 pin serial port that comes on old ass computers, it was an upgrade from the huge 28 pin ports that must ppl used as their printer port back in the day before USB (Universal Serial Bus) came around. Now you can just buy USB modules and avoid converting a cable from DB9 to USB. There is a post on this site of a man who shows you how to make a cable that goes straight from your car to your USB port on a computer, its cheap and only requires the basic of high school soldering skills. as far as software goes if you know how to download torrents you can find tons of paid version software for free online or just from a friend in general. I own a computer custom build / repair shop i run out of my house im more then happy to help you with any computer questions as far as tuning goes im as lost as you.

Opps scratch that didnt realize how old this thread was.
