Alright I am doing my 2nd ever BSEK install. The first time I was using the same kit that was used in the VFAQ, It came with 2 bearings a seal-plug and the mitsu stub shaft.

This kit I am trying now came with 1 bearing, and 2 different sized freeze plugs. I installed the smaller freeze plug into the oil pump with JB Weld, But I don't know too much about this larger freeze plug.

I know its supposed to replace the front BS bearing but do I just install it like a regular block freeze plug? Do I have to JB Weld it in? I certainly hope not.

I am probably just going to re use the bearing and flip it around, and install my only new one into the rear.

I searched and its all people asking the same questions, and the only replies are the vfaq link, which isn't the kit I am using, so I just had to ask :/ thanks

if its the kit i think the larger freeze plug width is the same as the balance bearing correct?

that would go in the hole behind the balance shaft hole you installed the smaller freeze plug. (the balance shaft not ran off the oil pump) open bearing in rear hole and the plug bearing in front hole.

hope thats not as confusing as i think it is. my friend had a kit like the one your describing. if you had a pic of the plug in question this maybe easier dont want to give you any mis info

I wasnt asking how to install it, ive done that before. I was asking if the freeze plug goes in like a regular block freeze plug (pressed in with a socket) or if its meant to be jb welded like the other plug was

but im just going to flip the existing bearing, will ease my conscience using a bearing instead of a freeze plug

thats what i would do also.

I don't see how your reply had anything to do with my question.

jUST some advice.. ive seen too many non-oem BSEK's fail, mainly because of the stubby shaft but either way i wouldnt trust them.

Also i wouldnt use a freeze plug to block a bearing hole. If we're talking about your average freeze plug, then i wouldnt trust something that thin to block a bearing hole and stay there.

Pics of the said kit might help understand...

But since they didnt send you the correct parts, i would think its not the correct kit...

That make it better for ya :idontknow:

Well this kit has a mitsu rear bearing, and a mitsu stub shaft, the only non mitsu parts are the 2 freeze plugs

the small one plugged the oil pump hole perfectly.

but yes like you said im going to reuse the front bearing to atleast keep the block parts 100% mitsu, but as for the mini freeze plug in the oil pump im satisfied

I just thought i might get some input from someone that had used the 2 freeze plug version of the kit, but maybe not too many people tried it

edit: yeah the freeze plug doesn't block but half the oil hole in the block, I'm definately not using it
