The links wont work for me. But you want the one with the groove in it, I would say change it out. While your doing that I would also look into porting the oil relief valve.

Groove is best if you plan on hitting 11krpm all day long or if you want it to last for 200k miles. Other than that, it's nothing to freak out about.

Once again, mixed opinions, however I appreciate it anyway. The engine has around 2K on it, and I don't plan on revving it past 8.5K since it's a 2.3L stroker. And yes, it does have a little whine to it.

i had the bse kit with no groove and my engine locked up after 20 minutes of run time destrying the oil pump ! i just cut up a stock balance shaft and tapped and plugged the oil hole that ran through the shaft !

You need the grove in the shaft as it supplys oil. Guys burn up oil pumps and destroy engines with out it. Dont by ebay crap get one from a good source like JAM

CRAP!!! Well, I decided to take it off and change it out, gues what.............. I'm so freaking glad I did, mine was about to blow up, I caught it in time!!! And I got the one with the groove now, but now I also need a new oil pump, at least I don't need another rebuild!!! I'm just so happy, I caught it in time, I can't even describe it! Thanks to all of you, you're all awesome!!!

I know this is a few days old, but make sure you get an genuine Mitsubishi oil pump. They are made with a better grade of aluminum than Topline or other cheap knockoffs, and are more durable.

Believe it or not most oil pumps being made now(aftermarkets) are close to design of the original Mitsubishi OEM. The big difference back in the day with Topline was the finish on the gears. My machine shop I go to has been examining and trying to find out the differences between the different oil pumps being made. The last one I brought to him he said matched all specs of a Mitsu OEM and he even polished up the gears to make them the same finish. Just get your stuff checked out first before getting it installed.
