I'm wondering can the stock wastegate actuator just break all of a sudden? because just the other day i noticed that it wasnt doing its job, my 92 gsx was just infinate boosting when i give it full throttle.

If it is the wastegate thats broken is there any way to fix it or do i just have to get a new one, and if i have to get a new one where would i go to get an oem internal wastegate actuator? the junk yard?

well it applies to both subjects and maybe if i would get an answer from my simple thread i wouldnt be so persistant. If you check my recent threads you'll see that i have made two others addressing this problem and no almost no one has replied.

This is infact a serious problem that isnt THAT complicated. i was just wondering what other DSMers would have to say on the subject, but it seems theyre too busy discussing fog light removals and good exhaust systems for their cars.

I mean should i post this in the advanced tuning section of the forums? i doubt its that hard to understand.

and maybe if you would lend me some advice instead of informing me on my forum educate, which i am well aware of.

sorry i just get a little frustrated when there are extreme discussions taking place over "if you should have ur heat shield on or off?"

I mean my problem isn't terrible, but it is serious if i wanted to do some racing, since i can't go to high rpms or my turbo just infinate spoolz, so i'm guessing its just a worn out wastegate, but if they break typically after a certain mileage then i would think people would be used to dealing with them, yet i cant find any internal wastegates for sell on any websites or OEM replacement wastegate actuators.

and yes i checked all the hoses, infact i replaces most of them to make sure there was constant pressure flowing through all of them. I just dont understand why the wastegate would all of a sudden break its not like its job is that hard it just pushes open a little flapper when a certain pressure is reached.

Do you have a larger-than-stock turbo? Sounds like boost creep, if you do. If not, I agree with the bike-pump test.

ya i checked the wastegate with a simple pressure pump and hooked it up to the wastegate actuator hose and at 11 psi it didnt open the spring so basically the wastegate is shot.

But i'm wondering then why when the car comes stock, it has a BCS connected to the wastegate actuator and is teed into the turbo line? if the wastegate can just open up using its spring when hooked up to the turbo then why does it need a boost control solenoid there? i mean do u even need the solenoid?

anyway i just ordered an oem wastegate actuator off machV, hopefully that will fix the problem, but i just dont understand why a BCS comes with the car if u dont even need it. If its not necessary it seems like a waste of money for the factory to put it there

the wastegate is mechanical. It opens when there is more than 9psi of air pressure pushign against it. The BCS is there to stop the airflow until 11psi is reached. Use something more reliable than a bike pump, something like an actual boost leak tester and an air compressor or something. It's possible the arm of the wastegate actuator rusted shut. Not likely, but possible. Remove the clip holding the arm to the flapper door. Then try moving the arm of the door by hand. Pinpoint the problem, then resolve.
