broken motor mount the mount is trash

ok so i have a 95 eclipse 2.0 DOHC N/T. i bought it as a wrecked car someone rearended a truck with so the front end was totally smashed. well i tore it all down to find out it has a broken motor mount the mount is trash from the middle where it bolts to the other half of the mount connected to the body its broken from there to the motor like completely gone now so i am wondering if i can make a custom motor mount that is attatched to more places that the original was if it would be ok i should have pictures and a rough sketch of what i am thinking about later today. i think that covers it let me know any questions will be attempting to figure this out all day if i have to.

bring a custom mount and try Welding it together , i think it should be fine ( i have seen worse than that and welding is really effective , its actually stronger than the original metal. make sure to weld it in a good place and make it balance so you will not have extreme vibration later on.


are you sure you want this car to run again ??/ if you really want it to run i would suggest a turbo KIT so it will be worth this hard work . work hard on it but at least get some nice results convert it to turbo.

Looks like the timing belt is trashed. Do you know if it actually runs? I would be concerned that the engine is trashed.

yes i wanna keep this car so my gf can quit driving her p.o.s. saturn and so i can have something to drive while im workin on my talon and id like a turbo but sadly cant invest that kinda money into it yet. and yes it runs fine i had to check it to make sure i wouldn't of bought it if it was that trashed im not into the 2gs but it was cheap

Ok even if it runs now you MUST replace that timing belt before you even start it up again. It has chunks missing out of it! That is just asking for a very very expensive repair

Hey im not saying it can't be done enough time and money anything can be done. Just evaluate what it's going to cost you first. And you want it to be safe im sure. I just parted one out on ebay piece by piece and made six time's my investment and kept the interior for myself. Rigt now there easy to find good deals on due to economy there was one in the paper last week for 800.00. And a gst for 1200.00 in perfect condition. You may save money if you shop around. Good luck on what ever route you take

I suggest parting it out. You gotta think of the electrical problems it might have now from sitting in the rain with no hood on it. I just repaired a wrecked laser and i had to put 1700 into it and it isn't done. Right after i bought it there was an awd laser for sale nothing wrong with it for 1500.00. I about kicked my self in the balls

Have you tried to turn the motor over by hand. I bet that it has some bent valves in there. Because from the shape of the "Teeth" in the timing belt I bet it has jumped a tooth or 2.

He already said it runs fine.
