Broken housing, Transmission done?

I would be curious as to what you were doing when this happened. Wheel hop? Loose bolts?

If you could jig it preciseley, perhaps it could be welded. That would be quite a feat and I assure you it would be a somewhat expensive proposition.

Overall, unless you damaged something else, I would say it could be repaired.

You just have to find someone that wants to tackle all the logistics of this.

Good Luck

Unfortunately nothing THAT exciting. I had mearly a few hours to put my engine from the car onto an engine stand and I hadn't swapped an engine in a few years and the last time it was on a DOMESTIC!

Other than welding it. Are there any other solutions? Like exchanging the housing? Maybe find a donor with the otherside destroyed? I already threw away the broken pieces and if somethings broke I think welding is cheap.
Thanks

You can just replace the housing. That part is not too terribly difficult to get off. Putting it back on might be another thing.LOL I might even have one lying around. I'll get back with you if I do.:D

That'd be freakin sweet. I need a new project. I'd be VERY interested to know if you had one laying around.:thumb:

So you dropped it? I'm surprised it broke that easily.

That's toast! :barf:

Unless you could jig it presicely as Mitsu Tech said I wouldn't even think about it. You can replace just the bellhousing section but you have to disassemble the tranny starting from the other end! That might be a good opportunity to go through the rest of the tranny. Yours looks a little beat.

Thats how hard i was prying on the motor to get it out. I didn't drop it. I only had a few hours to get the motor out before i had to give the cherry picker back. I plan to go through the tranny or maybe send it to shep or tre. Would they beable to replace the housing? I do have an extra tranny i plan on using instead of this one for the time being.

I called Shep and Tre about my housing when it cracked and Shep said he could not weld it or recomend it. Tre said yes they can weld it for 50.00 but they didnt say how they would and I e-mailed them and asked if they would cover the weld job if it broke again and never got a response back. Sorry about your trans I fell your pain:toobad:

We can fix it.

If you want to send it here to be fixed send me an email, turn around times are about 2-3 days.

More info can be found here,

Also, I have a bunch of good used bell housings and other parts that are listed on the site. I usually take the leftover parts to the scrap yard but I also realize some of you just need some parts to get your car back on the road so I created this page.

Thanks for the space!

I emailed you guys and never got a anwser back (YET) 3 weeks. You said you can fix it but will you cover the weld and shipping if the weld breaks. Also how will you be welding this aluminum is hard to weld and to be done right. Thats why I am asking if you would warranty your work.
Thanks AJ

just chalk it up mines had a crack in it last week had to have it replaced I was quoted 300 for just the housing, but it was cheaper for me to just get it replaced I have all the internals of my old tranny just not the housing waiting on another housing so I can put in my old parts and have a spare tranny just incase something happens.

This is my "SPARE" tranny. I got a housing, i plan to just transfer all the stuff over from one to the other. Are there any cheap tips you guys have for me? Welding the diff? Changing the synchro's? How expensive is all this stuff.

Sometime mail doesn't make it through the spam filter. I would replace that bell housing for it is too far gone and the distortion associated with that big of a repair would be a PITA to correct.
