I'm just wondering what i basicly have to do.....i just had my transmission re-built and i'm picking up the car within the next couple days. I was told by someone to drive the car easily and shift around 3000 RPMs but not to go over that and to continue this driving style for about 1000-1500 miles. Can anyone tell me how true this is and any suggestions on how to break in the transmission before i get back into my normal driving habits :thumb: . Just as a note, the transmission was on its way out when we bought the car just so no one thinks i did this. LOL. thanks for the help guys, all your suggestions are appreciated.

Morpherex is right, baby the crap out of it. You don't have to do it for 1000 to 1500 miles. 800 miles would be just fine. After that point you can go to normal, NOT HARD, driving on it. One thing you do want to do is make sure that you vary your rpms during that time. If it is all at one basic rpm then you really doesn't do you any good. It sucks but it is something you have to do. Have fun and good luck.

I cases where synchronizers dont work, or the trans is something non-synched like out of a 1956 GM bus, when attempting to shift, when you release the clutch, the engine slows, but the trans deosnt follow. By clutching again, it enables the gear assemblies to 'catch up' with the motor whether it be slowing down or speeding up. Nowadays, there shouldnt really be anything that needs to be double clutched, at least for street able passenger cars.
