:(I have a 98 gsx, recently it starts to vibrate at about 25 to 35 mph,and while on highway.Every time i get on the highway my left axle breaks in the same spot right b4 the hub,its broken twice, any one with any ideas as why this can be happeing or causing it. any info would b appreciated thanks!

Has the car ever been in an accident that you can remember? Also when was the last time you have had you're front end checked out thoroughly, you could possibly have something bent pretty bad which is causing way more stress on your axle then it should. Check for bad engine and transmission mounts too. Also you could be buying some bad axles from these local Auto part stores. There is a lot of possibilities that could be causing this. You're best bet is if you are not real mechanically incline, take your car to a local shop and just tell them that you have a bad vibrate and ask them if they can check it out. They should be able to determine if you have any really out of whack or bad front end parts.

I am assuming that you are talking about you FRONT left axle since you are a gsx and you have four of them. Anyways mine snaped a few monthe back and my mechanic who is also my buddy put the wrong one on and it looked exactly like the original but a bit longer so it created stress on it and broke it. The second time we almost put the wrong one again, but we had to check it very carefull, and then after the shops kept sending us the wrong ones (like the first one) we finally got the right one. What i am trying to say is that make sure they are putting the right one cause if its too long it will make noise and snap eventually. The long one and the original one are very similar if you over look it, but most likely you don't have the proper one on. Get it checked before you put a hole on your oil pan, cause i did :(

I ran into this before. You might have a failing front hub/wheel bearing. If the bearing is developing play or getting tight to turn, it may be oscillating at highway speeds, causing the axle shaft to also vibrate & fail pre-maturely or break . . . Check the wheel bearing on that side :talon:

Well if you hear a howling coming from the drivers side of you're car then its most likely a bad hub/bearing, but even if that is failing, it still doesn't completely determine if that is causing you're axle to break.

well i changed the control arms both lateral and curved, they were both pretty worn out.took it for a drive and car still pulls to the left, also checked the hub bearing abd spun freely without ne pressure on tirdebating on whether to change out the upper control arm, this is a pain in the ass!!! I forgot to mention that my e brake was on for a long time and when my axle broke the first time it just went off ne ideas why this happened!!

Well here i am again with the same problem as b4,i replaced just about every thing on the driver side axle, hub, both control arms on bottom. Car ran but still had the vibrating in the back and the steering wheel still pulled to the left, gave it a launch today and axle broke again in the same spot as b4,now the car runs perfect no vibrating or car pulling to the left,im thinking it might b my tranny, dont now what else can it b,n e advice would b appreciated greatly
