Just so you all know this is not on a DSM its on my dads 99 GMC sonoma. He and his buddy tore down and checked the pads about 6 months ago. The pads were about 90% left so they just turned the rotors and put it all back together. Ever since the brakes squeak really bad when light pressure is applied. I tore it all down today and looked at it for myself. The pads still have approx 75-80% life and there is nothing wrong with the rotors. However the shims were missing so I applied some anti squeal adhesive to the back of the pads and cleaned up everything really good with brake cleaner. I put it all back together and its still squeaking. It is a tiny bit better but not much. What else can I do?

Some will say get different pads but I dont see why. They never squeaked until the rotors were turned.

A friend of mine was complaining about the same thing. His dad changed the pads to another brand and the problem was gone. He ordered them From www.jcwsportcompact.com some performance brand. I have to find out the name. In anycase the car did not squeak any more.
