Okay, so the kid I bought my '95 Eclipse from didn't take good care of the car. I had expected to put about $1000 or so, give or take, to fix it after I bought it. Well, in reality, it was about a month later and a $2200 hole in my pocket... oh well...

But anyway, I fixed a lot of stuff, but there's an annoying squeak coming from my rear passenger side brake. Well, at least I'm 95% positive that it's just that one wheel. The kid said that he and his dad had put the pads on themselves, and they were new still. This was verified for me by two shops who said that the pads hardly have any wear on them at all. Well, when I first got the car about 3 months ago, the brakes squeaked really bad when the car had been sitting for a while and the brakes were cold. After driving for a bit, the brakes would warm up and and the squeaking went away for the most part. So I had thought that maybe I just had squeaky pads or something, or figured I'd wait for them to wear in a little, and didn't think much of it.

However, I started to notice that the brakes would squeak in intervals. For example, the slower I was going while applying the brakes, the slower the squeak would happen. So now I'm thinking that there is some uneven spot somewhere, but I really don't know what. Then a slight "grinding" noise also started happening in that same interval. The slower I'm going, the less the "grind" noise happens when I'm braking. If I go really slow down a hill and hold the brakes, it sound like a slow creek, kinda like a wooden door creeking open, or something. (except a metal creek, not wood, obviously)

Furthermore, after the car has been sitting for a while, when I first start driving I get the same same squeak in an interval (squeaks at the same spot as the wheel rotates). It does this when I'm not braking at all. After I gain speed it goes away for the most part, and whenever the car is warm, I rarely hear it.

So what do you think is bad or off set? Is it possible that the rotor is bent (or whatever term is used for an uneven spot), or some adjustment is off? The breaks feel smooth and the car doesn't jerk under braking, but something is definitely off. Also, I checked all my wheels and there's a small lined slot that goes around the rotors that is only on 3 of the wheels, but not the 4th. (I can take a picture if you want)

I know this sounds like a general question that may be hard to answer, but any help is appreciated. I can get pictures if you guys want them, or anything else that may help you guys help me. :)

Yeh. Did he mention they threw away the anti-rattle tin, and didn't use the tube of snubbing goo?
You can pull the pads and chamfer the leading and trailing edges on a bench grinder. Don't sniff the dust.
