Brake master cylinder upgrade

I did a search but nothing really came up that was helpful.

I am going to do a VR4 brake swap on my 1g talon and would like to know more about upgrading the master cylinder. I have read that the VR4 master is a larger bore but can't find any info on installing one. Also, there is no mention on what years of VR4's to get the master from. Are they all the same?

Whats wrong with the stock one never a problem on mine? Why do you need a upgrade?

When I want to find out if cars used the same parts all of their years I go to an auto parts site and just advance the year one at a time and observe if the parts stay the same. I would assume they used the same cylinder on all VR4s. A real upgrade would be getting rid of the booster and staying with a small cylinder with more leverage from the pedal.

VR4 Master Cylinders have a 11/16" bore in parts catalogs. If you search for the SL model master cylinder w/o ABs, they are 1" master cylinders.

I did this on my 1G and the pressure was fine.. As long as you have the bigger bore MC you will be fine.. Just throw some ss lines on there and you'll be fine..

You forgot the space. 3KVR4 master cylinders are 1 and 1/16" or 17/16" bore.

According to the Rock Auto site, both AWD twin piston cars take exactly the same master cylinder.

Someone must have switched them before; a 92 AWD DSM should have come with the 1gb twin piston calipers.

The 1g "big brakes" were a 93 and up change. The 92s still had the smaller front brakes.
