My BRAKE fluid reservoir is leaking from the cap.
This is the large round reservoir.
The cap comes loose after hard braking.
How/why does this happen? Is it common?
If I just get another cap will it just happen again?

Obviously. my BRAKES do not function well when the cap is loose, the car is unsafe in this condition.

Please advise, also don't forget to use correct grammar. :beatentodeath:

The only function of the cap is to retain fluid from spilling. If you drove like an old lady all day long, you could leave it off. When you use your brakes, the reservior does not pressurize. There is a compensation valve in your brake M/C that cuts fluid off to the reservior when you apply the brakes. The reason is so when brakes are applied, you 'push' all the fluid to the S/C's. Without the com port, when you stepped on the brakes, the fluid would just be pushed back into the reservior.

Are you sure you installed the cap correctly? I'd maybe try a new cap.

If the brake M/C com port was failing (allowing fluid just to return to the reservior) then you'd notice a serious lack of braking power (or no brakes at all).
