I've noticed on a few sites that there seems to be a difference in part# or availability of parts depending on if a 1G is pre-1992 or post... I didn't think there was a difference in the brakes on the 1G cars, or is there?

I have a '90 and am looking for pads and a new brake booster. I see that the booster from a 2G has the same PN on rockauto's website as a '93 car but not the same as a '90 or '91. This also holds true for pads where some companies list their pads for later 1G but not for the early years...

Am I right that there is no difference between 1G cars?

From what VERY little I can find on the subject, the smaller "non-ABS" one was on N/T DSMs. My non-abs 1G has the fat ABS brake booster on it. I'm wondering if it's a mistitle/misnomer and really means "AWD and Non-AWD" with the AWD being bigger due to more weight.

That's 150% semi-educated guess though. No one take it as gospel.
I believe the difference is turbo vs N/A. In all the flavors of cars I've had the boosters have always been the fat one if the car was turbo and they've always been skinny ones if the car was N/A. None of the cars I've had have been ABS cars so I can't compare if those are somehow different

if you want to find a replacement for the rear brake caliper. find a book with measurement of the calipers. that is what I did to find a PBR/ Corvette caliper and rotor for the rear brakes on my 92 Talon.

FWIW I have a '92 Talon TSi AWD manual, manufacture date of 5/92, and it came with single piston front calipers (along with a 6 bolt crank & 4 bolt rear axle).

I'm curious, did they ever make a 6/4/2 DSM?

I can't remember if anybody confirmed but I recall rumors of them. I don't trust build dates when they get close to crossover. I trust what I take apart.

Exactly what I was asking for and hoping for. Thanks man. Someone theorized way back in the 00's that it was n/t vs turbo cars due to added weight, but yeah. Good to know!

Great info thank you! My comment regarding ABS was if I enter my vehicle info on Napa and search for the booster it comes up with two parts, which under the specs one shows ABS and one shows non-abs. Any idea why?

Better question, where can I find a new one OEM spec? MB668986 in particular…
Found this: Part number 2177-05099328 on partsgeek w/ 3 in stock. Can't find much else. Will this work for a direct replacement? Sorry no clue and lost with all these at this point. https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1992/eagle/talon/brake/brake_booster.html
Note: they show as ABS and all Non-ABS out of stock...All the boosters I'm finding are stated to be for 2 wheel and 4 wheel ABS. No non-abs available. WTHell?

Btw why, rear brake parts arrived. Straight rip off artists, fits all in one box, and all arrived together.
47 bucks in shipping fu$k me! Keep the damn magnets and pack the shit together!
