I had a large leak from my brake booster. Mechanic replaced the stock line with a new line without a check valve in it. Upon boosting there was massive air flow from the brake booster in the cabin. I now have a check valve in place to prevent boost from seeing it now.

Since boost entered the brake booster and was leaking air out of it does that mean it is now sucking in air under vacuum? I have been trying to read up on it and from what I gathered is that the brake booster is a sealed enclosure and I now have a defective brake booster.

My brakes still work fine (that I know of) but could I have a vacuum leak now which would be my cause for my gauge to read -20inHg instead of -15inHg (HKS 272 cams)?

Recap:

Do I need a new brake booster because my current one saw 10psi of boost for a while until I realized it didn't have a check valve?

Now I wish I could remember the name of the guy on here that just replaced his brake booster but had a few different problems than you

Just checked the pedal feel and it still takes 2 pumps to get it rock hard. The boost leak test was at 30psi and blowing air out like crazy and I had the car running at 10psi for a good bit as well too when I was unaware of the leak.

Guess I should have replied with results :coy:

No, the brake booster was fine and as far as I know, it doesn't leak.
