Ok this just started happening.

I'll be driving and the E-Brake and Battery light will flicker on / off while driving..... or I'll start it up and they'll stay on.

normally I'd think it was battery related.

But I'm not sure on this one. - I just changed my brake pads, so that shouldn't be triggering anything.

The battery is a couple months old. - however my alternator is going - it doens't work from time to time.

What's your opinions. - I noticed it goes on and off with bumps with leads me to believe it's a loose wire or something?

However I have no Idea which one? or where it would be located.

I'm thinking I'm going to pull the center console off to check out the e-brake area for anything out of the ordinary today.

Thanks

What the hell is this???? I just bought a pair of Supposedly HID light bulbs 6000k for my 2G elcipse. They looked so damn nice, and but after like 15 min of driving, my lights inside the car like boost gauge turned off, my headlights turned off!! And what was weird is that all other lights are working!! And whats really weird is that my parking brake light is on, and so is the battery light. Anybody know what the hell is goin on, I didnt even check it cuz I am tired as hell I will take a look at it tomorow morning, but does anybody know what the hell could be happening. Totally puzzled by this...

I played around with my fuses inside the engine bay and I see that the fuse for my headlamps were out, I replace it and it fix the problem but in just a matter of a second later the fuse went out again. So, I try a higher fuse, original was 40a so I put in a 60a and it still burnt out and I saw some smoke by the bulbs. I guess I cant use these bulbs unless anybody has away around this, any1 can help?

A couple questions/comments. Ok...it works fine with normal light bulbs like cuzzo's and what not. The ones i put in are HID 6000k light bulbs. I dont know if that has anything to do with it, but it worked absolutely fine with the ones prior to this. Now are you sayin that if I get a new alternator my HID light bulbs will work and not blow out the fuses? Cuz I just think the light bulbs are too strong for the fuses, and i was wondering if there is a way around to do that...and please no wise cracks like "buy real HID..." and what not, im serious, im curious to know, any help greatly appreciated thanks.

ALSO what the heck is GREMLINS???

Gremlins are those little creatures who come out at night and f with your car when you aren't looking. You need a conversion kit for HID. You are probably almost shorting out the light circuit with those bulbs(really high current hence the blown fuse).

PS it is not a good idea to use higher rated fuses, they are there for protection.

they go into your car when you're not looking and steal little vital peices and they also steal them from every auto parts store around you. they do it to dsm's alot. I caught one the other day trying to throw one of my manifolds bolts out but i went back and found the bolt, by the time i opened the hood the little bastard was gone. BLAST!!!!!!!

when i get to around 3000 rpm im having the lights pulse like plug wires are to close to some sencor wires but they arent, any ideas guys??

Ditto - I can vouch for that phenomenon - make sure your Power Steering pump isn't leaking on it as it will take out your New Alt too - If the voltage regulator is bad in the old Alt it can take out your ECU also IMO... Good Luck

Before you buy a new alternator, try replacing your alternator fuse. You should be able to get it at your local parts store. Mine has done this a couple of times before, and I just replaced the fuse and it was fine. Try that first, then if that doesn't work, your alternator needs replacing. Good luck :thumb:

did you check and make sure the belt is tight enough, i had the same problem a while back, it just popped up out of nowhere, and when i checked the adjuster bracket had come loose so there was no belt tension.

A few months back my coolant, brake and battery light started glowing faintly at night when I had the lights on. Everyone said it was my alternator.

I replaced it with a rebuilt unit from CarQuest (Southern Auto), supposedly a much better chain than AutoZone. Well, tonight the same lights started glowing. I was several miles from home. By the time I neared my house, the headlights were VERY dim, and the car barely ran. It stumbled at high RPMs at all.

Is this definitely the alternator again? If so this is some serious bullshit. Help please...

hello,

My car is acting weird, the brake light and battery light turn on when i go over 2500 RPM. I have searched this topic, mostly people have said it should be the alternator that is causing the problem. However, the only difference between my problem is that my car is acting this way when I am over 2500 RPM, not when the idle is really low.
The interior lights get VERY bright when the brake light and battery light turn on. Seems as if the alternator is OVERCHARGING. I am going to get my alternator and battery checked tomorrow, is advance autos or auto zone a good place to get this test done? I know they offer free battery check.

some people mentioned in their post that it could be the "voltage regulator". I am not too sure what "voltage regulator" are, if someone could please explain?

I also read that this is the way DSM's show that the alternator is saying goodbye when these lights turn on. Does anyone have an idea how much an alternator costs stock or aftermarket? I would prefer an aftermarket one since I will be putting two subwoofers in the car.

thankyou.

im very frustrated i had some bad problems happen my resovoir for my power steering has went bad on me to when i put it in it comes right back out also heres the problem here when i turn my car on and all your lights come on check engine, etc my battery light and brake light stay on and go away when im driving im really stumped it crossed the mind that it could be the alternator

Yes PS fluid will cook an alternator. If you run it while it is wet. The copper standing resin will get eaten away shorting it out.
Also I bet it shorted it out a little, because when your at higher RPM's it still charges.
So yes, get an alternator, and fix your leaking PS res.
