BOV whistling??

Aight so ..

I decide to take my intake off and put it back on .. ive done it many times and everything is fine after i did it.. everytime i spool the turbo until like 3K rpm i hear a whistling sound and then after that I hear the normal turbo spool up sound..

I dunno if its coming from the BOV or something else.

I dotn think my turbo is gone cause the car runs fine and is running the stock boost levels .. there is no smoke or anything coming out of the exhaust..

I searched on here and found that i should make sure there are no holes in my IC pipes.. i checked that... no holes.

The only thing i could think of is maybe my BOV is broken? i dunno..

um does it sound like a leaking cause in that case it might be your bov and just play with it while the car is running and adjust it till your car idols normally and if that doesnt fix it keep adjusting it cause your bov might be leakin boost. thats what what i did to my friends 98 gs-t when it did that and that fixed it.

What exactly is the "normal turbo sound"? The sound that my stock makes sounds abit like whistling...

He's saying he hears both the spool up of the turbo(every turbo whistles, and usually they sound QUITE similar) and the other whistling sound, I have the same thing going on as well, but i think you would be more able to tell if it's actually a leak, by noticing if it takes longer to reach your max psi.

i didnt realise that you have a 1g bov. or thats what it says on your profile. i dont think you can adjust them. but if the other noise started right after you put on your intake well then it might just be your intake noise. cause you can hear the intake and the turbo at the same time.

n no n o.. ive had the intake for a while.. that sound is different... this sound is really a high pitched whistling ssound.. comes right before the actual turbo spool up which is more of a air being sucked in sound...

the BOV does make the Psshh sound when i let off throttle though..

My 1G BOV whistles too but only on decelleration I was told that its leaking when it makes the sound mine is. Might check yours as well.

i checked all the hoses that come off the BOV.. they are all fine.. so would that mean the BOV is actually broken then? will it fix the leak if i crush it?

gsxtreme i have the same exact problem as you! it just started like 2-3 weeks ago and i have no idea if its the bov or the turbo, it makes a high pitched whine real quick before actual spool kicks in, but when i did a boost leak test the bov was leaking... anyone have any idea?

you said the bov was leaking.... thats a problem. ever blow accross a beer bottle? almost the same thing. depending on how bad the leak is you prolly dont get to max psi or it takes longer to do it. just replace the bov. get a cool on like a hks or something. dont they make aftermarket bov that go onto the stock flange? while your at it get a fmic, 2.5 inch ic pipe and turn up the boost good luck guys

i'll see what i can do. for real though, replace that bov with a good replacement. use ebay. should fix your problem. imo the stocker looks kinda wimpy anyway.

before replacing the bov, check for boost leaks first. it's cheaper anyway and it doesnt hurt to check

well i know the bov leaks so im going to end up replacing it next paycheck, and will finish doing some boost leak testing w/ soapy water when i get home from work.
