:confused:So basically i removed the piping going from the bov to the intake and capped off the intake and now its open air it sounds amazing i just dont know if its going to hurt anythin any suggestions? by the way it is the stock bov.

No, this is not good to do. Your engine calculates the air that is being put back into the intake. Letting it go out hurts your performance / economy. Sometimes you will notice a difference, sometimes not, but either way your degrading your car. I would put it back on.

Undo everything you just did. Yes, you are hurting your car's performance. Where did you hear about this "free mod"?

Alright I'l hold back from ripping you a new one. Put that recirculating tube back on. Yeah it may sound cool, aka "ricer" as know around here. But its not good for your car on a stock MAS. It will cause your car to idle very shitty and you will run rich between shifts. You can also foul out spark plugs by doing this. You may or may not notice it but your car is slower by doing this. You need to do alot of reading if you want to vent the BOV correctly.

I'm suprised this thread wasnt closed already.

Yeah but a moderator already posted in here, I'm suprised he didnt close it.

Well I think all this was ripping him a new one LOL but yes venting bad without tuning and the right parts.

The reason it's still open is because the OP hasn't replied yet. :)

what if you don't have the stock 1G MAF anylonger, what if I'm running a GM MAF with the MAF Translator? Then can I vent the BOV to Atmosphere?

Yes, that's considered one of the "proper" ways of venting to atmosphere. The others are converting to a speed density system or MAP system.

Not to hijack the thread, but ive searched and searched and I cant really find any explanation on what exactly Speed Density is. I mean, how you set it up, tune with it and what not. Any links or something would be sweet. Ive been wondering for a while.

Speed density is a completely different setup than a MAS/MAF setup. You don't need either of them. Instead, you use IAT (intake air temp.) and MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensors. AEM EMS is one product that runs on speed density. MAF-T Pro is another, but no where near as popular. I'm sure there are others as well.

To set it up, you just install the sensors, wire it all in, and that's it. And it's easier said than done. Tuning is where you need to know what you are doing. EMS is not an easy thing to learn or tune. This is why most people go with an S-AFC or DSMlink.

This car never came stock with a bov, rather a Bypass valve(BPV). Put that hose back on your venting metered air.

DSM'ers tend to use BOV and BPV interchangeably, regardless whether they know the difference. Either way, everyone knows immediately what the OP meant.

Interesting. Im confused as to why more people dont run it? Do you have to have a full stand alone system to run it or is it similar to a maf-t setup with out the maf? I have tuning experience with the afc and the maf translator, is it really that much different? Not trying to be a pain, just really want to expaaaaaand the mind! :thumb:

More people don't run it because it's more expensive and much harder to dial in correctly. AEM EMS is a full standalone and has a very steep learning curve (along with a nice price tag). Most people don't have use for such a system. The MAF-T Pro I believe is somewhat similar to a MAF-T setup minus the GM MAF, but I really don't know much about it.

There are plenty of people on here that run an S-AFC and a MAF-T setup. It can work great if your goals aren't really high. And the ones that have high goals but don't want a full standalone go with DSMlink as it is an amazing tool.

thats called running it VTA
