I'm getting ready to start flashing chips for my 1g, and ordered some blank chips from digikey. Per instructions on esm.logic.net, i got AT29C256-70TC-ND from digikey. When it got here, I opened it and noticed it looks NOTHING like what was in there before...they are small, and appear to be designed for surface mount on a pc board. I obviously ordered the wrong chip, what is everyone else using??! Also, the (correct) chips are supposed to be erasable...how do I go about erasing them using the vortex-diag method? Just write over it?

Thanks!

Actually, I wasn't sure which one I should order from digikey and I didn't like their pricing by the unit. So I went and ordered some from moates.net

Here's the number I have on mine
AT29C256-90PC-0449

28 PIN DIP.

If you need anymore help, feel free to pm me.

You ordered the right chip, but the wrong packaging. You ordered what's called an TSOP mounted chip (or worse, a PLCC package), and you need a DIP package.
