Bought car totally disembled how hard to reassemble?

so i just bought a 98 420a from my friend today. It is totally apart, engine tranny are in the hatch, interior is set in but not bolted in. My question is how hard is it to put all of this back together?? and how much does an average rebuild cost ( new internals, gaskets, bearings, just the basics

As far as the putting back together part, a Haynes manual is gonna be your best friend! I have yet to buy parts for a rebuild so im sure someone else would gladly answer that part for ya. Good luck!

I know on my rebuild on this 6bolt it ran me 700 for a stock rebuld everything but new rods, because I sent mine out to be reconditioned by dsm graveyard. On the last 420a it ran us about 600 but the guy wanted an ebay rebuild kit. 50k an still running strong.

Not that hard to but back together as far as the costs go it just depends on how many things are missing. Also rebuild cost are hard to figure it all depends on if the cylinders are warped and need rebored, if it needs decked, how the bearings and crank look, and things like these. Take the motor to a machine shop and see what they say.

One more thing a Chiltons guide or simular should have a page in it that shows all the interior screws and bolts and their actual size. This will help you get all the hardware for the inside.

Ebay buddy I completely rebuilt my 420a with ebay parts and it ran like a bat out of hell and held together great 1995 2.0L Mitsubishi Eclipse Engine Rebuild Kit 420A - eBay (item 250521519220 end time Mar-22-11 12:38:45 PDT)

I had a header back exhaust stainless steel from ebay too 2.5 inch all the way out the back for under 300, I ported and polished the cylinder head and rebuilt that as well. then put a cold air on it and it was pretty sweet for a N/A but my whole perspective on the 420as changed when I got behind the wheel of a 4g63t.

Ive contemplated getting this kit just for a backup incase i do have to over haul the engine. glad to see that someone ordered one and its working good

I also used that ebay rebuild kit on the 420A Eclipse i had before this current one. I picked it up with a bad engine used that kit and sold it right after for some nice profit the car is still going strong and running great for the guy.

i never heard any feedback about the ebay rebuild kits but im also lookin to boost mine soon so i needed forged rods and pistons and various other parts that i knew were of good quality.

+1 to the maual it will save you a whole lot of time there is also alot of info on here about it too. good luck dude!
