Hi, a guy I know bought a t3/4 trim 50 turbo kit from a shop locally, the kit has IC, pipes, bov, fuel pump I think, etc... He bought if for 2 grand about 1.5 month ago. So I check it out and it's of the lowest quality ebay kit looks like, aluminum is welded bad, everything is pretty crappy, it has an extrusion on the front of the snail, and a smooth aluminum top with a stamped TURBOCHARGER on it, TDO4 I think, T3/4, and SN. The stamp isn't even smoothed out, has little jagged aluminum pieces. I asked to see the receipt, the receipt doesn't even list all of the parts sold, it just says "Turbo kit (AS-IS) and the price. On the bottom it says returns are accepted within 3 days with 20% restocking fee. And other shop rules, signature line (no signature from customer), he said he did not sign any other receipt. I know what you see is what you get, but he was pretty much ripped off.? The shop also told him they can install for 2 grand! He was pretty upset when I told him this, I know I would be. Anyway, my question is can he still get a refund?Let me know if its possible and how! Thanks!

yeah sounds like he got screwed, best bet is for him to just go down and try to return it,. the "as is" might be a hard point to get past, but you never know till you try. but to be honest sounds like that shop is running scam, selling stuff to guys that dont know what there really buying.:notgood:

Have him tell the shop if they dont return it that you will talk to the better business bereua(sp). This might scare them a little. Also tell them that you will get the word out about how shitty there shop is.

Thats exactly my thoughts, reselling ebay kits for almost a full price of a legit kit. I understand he should just go and say he wants to return it, but is there any special way to do it for them to refund? I personally would say I would take them to court, and tell them that I will file a BBB report on their business, and then proceed to do the following. BBB then court.

No one is going to be able to tell you how to make them return it, without having gone through it themselves. But I think you have as good as a start as anywhere with the BBB and then courts. BTW since you seem to be from my area mind sharing where the shop was for future reference, and maybe the name of the owner. Getting their name out on the net with negative responces can diffently make owners change their tune.

He posted the shop name in the post title kyle, tacoma shop, ive drove past that shop before,, and if they screw over a fellow dsmer , i,ll make sure i let all my dsm buddies know about it.:notgood:

Well, I'll forward the info to him and see what he wants to do. How would he go about proving to them it's a knock off turbo if it has never been used, they will most likely swear by it etc...

just tell them you changed your mind and you dont wanna upgrade anymore. try to keep it simple.

This is the Tee. the owner of Tee'z Extreme Motor Sports. Was doing a search on line and could not believe what i am reading on this forum. First of all, i have been in business for 6. What business stays open that long by dicking people around??? I go above and beyond to take care of my customers. Unfortunately, this is a case of "you get what you pay for". I have customers that come in my store everyday that want something for nothing or want a product for ebay pricing. this particular customer picked out the part that he wanted for the amount of money he had. you cant go to Lamborghini dealership and tell them you want a $150,000 car for $75,000 and they send you to a dealer to get one that looks exactly the same but it is on a Fiero chassis with a corvette motor and expect it to perform the the way a $150,000 one would. if you dont want crap, DONT BUY IT. We have no control over customers that want to be cheap. Also, this customer never even had the balls to come talk about the part after it was puchased. he decided to wine to his buddy and his buddy is the one that has to post the blog. Anyone that knows me knows that i am fair and run a fair business. And to respond to the return policy. yes we have one just like any other shop like ours. no, you can not return a special order item because you got what you paid for and then figured out you shoulda spent more money for quality products. defective products can be returned but we dont know unless the customer tells us then we can deal with the issue at hand. Anyway, hope this will clear the negative info on this site ### we love what this site stands for and we love the riders that stay true to Tee'z Extreme Motor Sports

So a kit for 2 grand is considered cheap? Geez did inflation rise that much? An ebay turbo kit with intercooler, turbo, piping, and BOV cost about 1/4 that much.
BOV ~ $200
Walbro 190 ~ $100
FMIC kit ~ $500 (unless it's very high quality like ETS)
50 trim hybrid ~ $800 (unless it's ebay turbo or no name brand, then cut the price in half)
Manifold ~ $400

That brings us to a total of 2 grand right there. Take note, I've been very lenient with pricing. With shopping around and knowing what you can skim on and what you can't, the pricing would have been much lower. Granted, I don't know what else has been included in the kit. But I think 2k should be able to get you a decent quality kit, not one with bad welds.

2g's given to an illiterate parts slinger out to make a buck with no research up front. Nobody is at fault as both parties are equally stupid.

Closing on the grounds of vendor feedback.
