Bought A Nitrous Sniper Kit, What Do I Need To Do Before The Install Change Plugs and?

got this one off eBay after I heard many people saying the NoS sniper kits are good:
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

It's coming in this thursday or Friday and I'm hoping I can install it within a week or two.

I know I need to change my plugs to colder ones but I just don't know which one's I need really. I won't be spraying a lot and this is a DD so keep in mind I'm not going to be spraying it like the F&F every other weekend.

Here's a little info about the car in case it helps:

98 Eclipse 420a 144K miles. Always changed with fully synthetic oil + 91 octane gas all the time.
Mods include - cold air intake, MSD ignition, Megan Racing Headers to full exhaust cat delete, Unorthodox Racing Pulley and now the Wet Nitrous kit



I am getting all the jets with the kit, they are either 30-50-75 or 35-50-75 I know I don't want to use 75 shot at first I'm thinking about either 30/35 or the 50 shot. What are your opinions? How will this kit work does it work only on WOT or will I have to press & hold a button to activate it?

Sorry for so many questions and look forward to seeing what everyone has to say.

So re-cap, main things I need to know which plugs I should get if I won't be spraying a lot and of course I'll do a full maintenance check oil/tranny fluid/other before putting it in.

Start off with a BKR-7E plug, and do you have a upgraded fuel pump? It would be a smart thing to get one, as well as all the things you need to make running nitrous safe. I would get a fuel pressure safety switch, so if you have a drop in fuel pressure the nitrous cuts off and you don't melt your internals. Two you need a "burst tube" so if the pressure in the bottle gets too high it runs the nitrous out of the cab of the car. Three, I would get a wideband afr gauge or at least put it on a dyno where you can use the afr sniffer to "tune" the jets, that way you know your not running too rich or too lean.

EDIT: I would also recommend you get a different style activator, instead of the mechanical WOT switch. The digital TPS switches are about 100 bucks and well worth the money. As far as what shot to run, you won't even notice a 30/35, a 50 is an ok shot, 75 is a good shot to run AS LONG AS YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH THE PROPER SAFTEY PROCEDURES AND TUNED IT ON A DYNO OR WITH A WIDEBAND AFR, and you car is in good mechanical order to begin with. On a "50 shot" tuned on the dyno, and by tuning I mean adjusting the fuel pill in the nozzle, I made 168whp on a stock motor with bolt ons. Never got the 75 shot on the dyno.

Another thing that makes a WORLD of difference on a nitrous set up is getting a temp controlled bottle heater so you can keep bottle pressure up. Worth every penny if you ask me.

Is nitrous something you think you can install yourself if you can do a radiator / water pump? Or should you seek an automotive shop that will charge me 2 legs and 1 arm?

I didn't open up the instructions yet to look at them, didn't want to lose a peice or misplace them but I am just curious as to how much a shop SHOULD charge for an install of a wet kit like this one.

1 - 2 hours of labor should be about correct in my opinion?

The problem with this question is the range is very broad. Depending on the shop and their experience, it could take anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days, . AND this is also locational. It depends on where you are in the country, as well as how populated (as in how many shops to compete for your business) your area is. Maybe somebody in your area can post up.

I realize it is very broad and I have a guy in mind that owns a shop and is trustworthy but he said to me he's never done nitrous before (and I thanked him for his honesty)

I'm in Phoenix, Arizona and there seems to be a lot of shops around the area. I hope someone in the area can post up and help me out that would be much appreciated.

The actual install of the kit is a no brainer if you can do a water pump. Its the mounting of the WOT switch that comes with the kit. You have to be creative to use it, but a digital window switch is much easier to mount. If you understand how relays work and how to wire in a stereo then I see no reason why you couldn't install this on your own. Shouldn't take more than 3-5 hours if its your FIRST one. You'll see when your done, you will look back and say, damn that was easy. I hope you ordered a wideband afr(pretty sure you did), other than that, getting the fuel/nitrous pills right is what takes a bit of time.

Thanks I didn't get a wideband AFR just a regular one, does the wideband make a huge difference? If so I'll get one of those too when my paycheck comes in.

I figured an AFR is better than no AFR gauge.

And 3 - 5 hours not bad, I hope I can get a shop to install it for me for 2 - 3 hours of labor.

Yes you need a wideband, the other AFR gauges are whats known as a "blinky light gauge". It is better than nothing I suppose but the wideband will give you real time data, so you don't grenade your motor from too much nitrous and not enough fuel. You also need to do the testing when you do "tune the jets" on a full bottle if you don't have a heating blanket, because as the tank drains pressure in the tank will drop and you won't have as much nitrous spraying through the solenoid due to that drop in pressure. So if you tune your jets on a mostly empty tank when you fill it up you could be in for a big surprise.

A narrowband just says over 14.7:1 or under 14.7:1. So they're pretty much useless. You can get a good used wideband for $150 on the forums.

Alright I'll def get the wideband too, I just figured for now it's gonna be better than nothing to know whether I'm running rich/lean or ideal. And it's a cool light show as you guys mentioned already ha ha.
