Hey everyone, This will be my first post here in the dsm forums. So please be patient with me =). So on friday a 1996 Eclipse gsx, 341 whp will be dropped off at my house, im in the process of getting prepared to be able to drive it right away. The problem, most cars bottom out coming into my drive way. My friends stock impala bottoms out, and my friends stock 2007 gallant ralliart bottoms out coming into my drive way. The eclipse is also lowered so i know for a fact its going to bottom out. We've tried all different way to pull in and pull out but it doesnt seem to work, so i need a solution. My driveway has a so called "canal" at the beginning for water drainage on my street, so i CANNOT block that, so the only idea i have right now is to put a long piece of metal over it, so that the car can drive over it, and the metal wont block the water draining. I Attached a picture so you can see the driveway. If you have any ideas besides changing anything to my car, please give me your advice =)

Seriously man you can't get in that driveway without scraping? It's all about getting the proper angle. My driveway makes your driveway look girly to be honest. When I pull into my driveway I hit this wierd angle and one of my back tires literally comes off the ground, the neighbors say it's pretty cool to watch... Anyways all i am saying is to learn how to drive into your driveway. Go slow, and keep getting in and out of the car to figure out the best angle.

Coarse gravel is more than enough and not the hassle every one makes out of it.

He cant lay anything that would hinder the flow of water. So black top is out of question without approval.

People double parked on speedbumps need to get their own island and immoliate.

Nyc has horrible roads n bumps without angle possibilities suck!

At least you dont have a 3' deep ditch to mow like I do. I would talk to the township. I think the best solution would be to cut out a section of the drive and the curb. and make the inlcline less steep. The other option would be to bolt down a 1/2 inch of diamond plate steel the problem with that is a snow plow might just rip it up.

Put down some wood blocks and throw some rubber matting on top and you have an easy fix! Used to have to do that at my old house and it worked like a charm! Also, if you're seriously worried about someone stealing your wood blocks and rubber matt, you should probably move out of that neighborhood because that is just sketchy ;)

Really? My 99 is lowered 2inchs with 16" rims and a body kit and the incline going into my bank is hella steeper and its a hell of alot narrower than your drive is, and ive never scraped not even my big ass exhaust. Just take your time.. If you lived closer Id show you how to do it LOL

I know your trying to come up with something that isn't going to interfere there, but if you don't want to have to mess with it frequently, you need something concrete. What I would do is culvert the gutter with some 2 or 3" pipe, form the sides, and put a few inches of concrete over it level with the drive, just so the dip isn't so sharp. Personally, that isn't something I would want to have to do much maintenance on, beyond having to wash crap out of the pipe occasionally.

City property or not, making your drive usable without damaging your cars is not something the city will throw a fit about. If they are real asshats, you may want to get the permit for it.... I'm stubborn though and would tell them to stuff it if pestered about something like that.

Okay how about laying PVC so the water can run through. Then lay the cement or blacktop over that. when you do this, first lay down wax paper! That way it isnt permanent if they come by and say anything. Just lift up one end and be like TADA! NOT PERMANENT OR ALTERED!

wouldn't black top be heavy?

I agree with the pvc pipe and top over it though, you're just creating a drain pipe. if it clogs just get a auger and fix it right up. sort of like gutters, at least how i see it.

how much does your street incline? your actual block?

I don't know what you're smoking, but I hope you brought enough for the rest of the class... ROFL

thanks for all the adivce, im just gonna try the gravel, because i cant use anything that would block the flow of the water.

i live on a super busy street, one of the main roads in my town, and its a big incline, so when it rains, that canal is important so the houses dont flood.
