I hope someone can help me with this problem. My car is a '90 Eclipse GST. I was told it has lowering springs and it certainly appears to be lowered as there is very little gap between the tires (225/55/15) and the fender well. A mechanic says the springs are stock. I don't know. The seller lied about almost everything else, so it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't have lowering springs-but it doesn't make sense because it does sit very low.

The problem I have is that the car bottoms-out when I go over a bump or any patch uneven pavement when driving 35 mph or more. On the freeway, when going 70 mph and hitting any patch of uneven pavement (can even be slight), the car will SLAM down, and I mean HARD.

I really don't know what the problem is. I took it in to Firestone and told them about it and they replaced the L&R inner tie rods and charged me $$$$$$. The problem continued and another mechanic looked at it and said there's nothing wrong with the struts, springs or anything else--but the problem continues.

Does anyone have an idea about what the problem could be? Thank you!

Your springs are either stock and cut or aftermarket and too low. Likewise, your struts are shot. Changing tie rods has nothing to do with your problem. You need to purchase a new spring and strut setup or get a complete coilover kit.
