Both my piping (post cooler) and intake manifold are hot.

Alright a brief breif story. I finally got my car back from just damn near a year. I have a swapped engine and my mod list is current to use as reference. Today is my second day really driving it and well from what I read, after installing a FMIC, your charge pipes should be pretty cool to touch. Both my piping (post cooler) and intake manifold are hot. I could barely keep my hand on the intake manifold and I do have a heat barrier gasket on there as well. Does this all seem normal? My mechanic did say I'm running lean because of the increased air. Once I get link put in with increased fuel, will that fix this heat issue?

Being that I'm running lean right now should I stay off boost until I get it tuned?

Thanks

You don't ever want to run too lean...My intake manifold is almost always hot to the touch and has been like that since day 1. What are your mods, how much psi are you pushing?

The plastic gasket is great, but you have the boltheads still transferring heat off the head. Along with it being under the hood its bound to get hot.
The UICP is doing the same thing taking heat out of the engine bay.

Running lean because you just got a FMIC is horsepoop.

Like I said, my mod list is up to date. Evo3 16g, ported rvr IM(evo3 manifold equivalent), 7cm 1g TB. I'm running boost off of wastegate which is usually around 10psi from when I look. He told me that I am moving more air and running lean. I know that a FMIC won't cause a lean. If anything it would just cause lag if the turbo is too small for the core.

I just wasn't sure about the heat as others have mentioned that the IM is cool to touch on their setups and same with IC piping.

Anything under the hood is going to be hot. I have heard rumors that the heat barrier gaskets do keep the IM cooler, but I don't really know myself.

Is the "cold" side of the FMIC about ambient temp? If so then don't worry about the IM being hot.

You are not going to run lean off WG pressure if everything is functioning properly.

No, the cold side of the IC isn't ambient, it has a decent bit of heat to it also. I do have my heat shield on if that matters.
