Ok, I just got done reading a lot on this turbo and decided it is the right one for me and my goals. I like how it spools.

Just to be sure, this turbo will bolt directly up to my o2 housing and mani? For my fmic will I need a welded 90 or 90 degree silicone? Would it be best to get a 4in intake since its a 4in inlet? Anything else I will need with the install kit that comes with it?

Any info with someone who runs it would be great too.

There is another similar thread in turbo tech that can answer some of your questions here:

S256 Thread

The turbo is a direct bolt on as far as the manifold and o2 housing goes. They are setup to run an o2 mounted wastegate but can be made internal wastegate and also manifold mount wastegate if needed. You will also need a new oil feed line and drain line. The center section doesn't have provisions for the water lines so you won't need to worry about running those. The compressor cover is a downflow style so it should be ready for a FMIC with no modifications. You will also need a 4" intake pipe. Any other questions feel free to pm or ask again.

evo gt manifold should is very similiar to the stock 2g manifold so your good on that for sure, not familiar with the PR o2housing though. i dont see why it wouldnt have any issue though.

The S256 its supposed to be a killer turbo but i have not seen any dsm with that turbo on a dyno.

Its bigger then a 50 trim but spools faster, how can you go wrong? From what I have read thats what I got out of it.

I am working closely with punishment racing and I just ordered a tial 38mm o2 housing for the S362 I am going to be running. Fitment for all those items should be no problem. The S256 spools up about 700-800 rpm sooner than a similar gt30 so that is pretty impressive. Their is not much dyno info out at the moment but hopefully that will get better soon as they get more out on the market.

The S256 is supposed to be a 49 trim turbo even though that is a little conservative. I am sure it is more like a little over 50. Once you run anything over 15psi the extended tip technology kicks in about an extra 6-8 lbs/min so that will definitely outflow a 50 trim and spool time is killer:thumb:

So when would you expect to see full boost? What rpm is full boost on a gt30? say 20 psi?

That depends on how much boost you are running and your mods as to exactly what rpm it will fully spool at. The S256 should hit 20-25psi by the low to mid 3000 rpm's

So this is suppose to compare with a GT30? So Basically the power of say... bolt-on PTE 3076r with faster spool?

I don't have a lot of experience with pte stuff but based on what I have read that is a similar horsepower turbo and the guys at bullseye said you will see a big increase in spool time.

I'll be waiting to know how the bolt-on S362 is doing :D

Interesting. It'll be nice when more concrete info starts to come out. I heard that the owners of bullseye were the same names involved in the MUTT turbos a few years back.. so I have been very skeptical of them thus far.

How do you think the s256 compares to the HX35 as far as spool and power?

I really don't care about peak HP, I want a very broad powerband. That is one reason I like the bb50trims

This pretty much sums it up:

By extending the ends of the compressor wheel, BorgWarner has effectively increased the pressure ratio, efficiency and flow of the entire compressor.
This gives the S200 and S300 pressure ratios and efficiencies that can normally only be had with larger, slower spooling turbos.

The extended fins do not hamper spool-up. The compressor wheel is designed to remove excess weight, reducing overall rotating mass.
Of particular importance is the reduction of weight at the outer edges which is a major factor for reducing inertia.
The weight reduction and where it is reduced allows these compressor wheels to spool FAST.

Map Width Enhancement Grooves

These grooves allow air to be pulled and fed directly into the second set of blades on the compressor wheel outside of the main inlet.
This most notably increases the efficiency of the compressor as well as overall air flow, hence the name, Map Width Enhancement Grooves:
it produces "wider" compressor maps.Along with the increased efficiency, feeding the second set of blades directly helps decrease spool time.
Combine that with the lightweight, Extended Tip compressor wheel and that is exactly how the S200 and S300 can make as much or more power than larger turbos and spool quicker doing it!

I will tell you how it fits with the punishment as well. I ordered the S256 from Wayne and also ordered the punishment racing O2 housing with Tial 38MM external.

wow! gt30r power with 14b or 16g spool up! what more could you ask for!!! I was also looking at this turbo as it looks like it would be good for my 2.0 that will be a 2.3 in the future! (ha ha I might actually go with the s362or 366 for stroker).

What more can we ask for? How about all that power and performance of the BR S256 Extended Tip for the price of a 16g w/ install kit? LOL...I wish...time to save my pennies... Anyone have dyno charts and numbers using this turbo yet?
